In 2013, we moved from Boston to Berkeley and we needed to find a house for our growing family. We were extremely fortunate to find Faye Keogh at The Grubb Company who became our realtor! It seems like such a cliche, but she actually listened to us and only took us to houses that had true potential for our family. I remember walking into this beautiful Mediterranean house that she found and instantly thinking, “This is it!” We made so many beautiful and wonderful memories there as a family and with our friends. Twelve years later in 2025, with our kids in college and officially empty-nesters, we decided to downsize and put the house on the market. We went straight back to Faye! Faye was able to give me a good sense of recent changes in the local market and what to expect from potential buyers today. We began discussions about a year before I was fully committed to getting the house on the market, and during that time Faye was responsive without any pressure. She was very good about getting me going on disclosures and making decisions about necessary work vs. later staging options. In the end I was fortunate to find an off-market buyer through Faye, saving me a lot of time and trouble that a full staging would have entailed. Recommendations for contractors and other services were very helpful. Because I was trying to make an offer on a new home at the same time as the off-market sale of my Berkeley home –fairly suddenly– materialized, we had some bumpy moments in coordinating the two closings, but it the end all worked out well, and above all I was able to get the exact asking price I'd originally suggested, without all the repairs and staging expenses I'd at first envisioned.
