About Timothy

A classically trained trombonist, Tim Smith moved to Buffalo in 2009 to join the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. After purchasing their starter then dream home (through Gurney Becker & Bourne, of course!) Tim and his wife began purchasing distressed properties, renovating them, and offering quality rentals to the community. This led to an intense passion for real estate that ultimately arrived at Tim becoming a licensed salesperson and joining the Gurney Becker & Bourne team himself. As an investor, Tim has extensive experience in renovation work and a deep network of contractors, tradespeople, and professional services. Tim’s expertise lies in analysis of small multifamily properties, renovation budgeting, and investment metrics. He also runs a real estate investment consulting and mentorship business, Resonance REI, geared towards helping new investors establish the skills, network, and knowledge necessary for success. As the owner of a 180 year old home, Tim knows first-hand what goes into maintaining and updating our beautiful Buffalo real estate heritage. Tim's background as an educator spans two decades of teaching 4th grade level to doctoral students, and he has held faculty appointments at such notable institutions as the Eastman School of Music and Ithaca College. Communication, education, and mentorship skills developed here are at the core of Tim’s client-serving mission.

Carolyn joined Gurney Becker & Bourne in 2020 as a licensed real estate salesperson. She combines a deep commitment to her hometown, and a strong sense of community, with the desire and skills needed to help clients find their perfect home. Carolyn's wealth of experience includes many years in nonprofit management, fundraising, donor and client services, construction, and politics. Throughout her career, Carolyn has built a proven record of success by listening to clients’ needs and helping them solve problems. She leverages her high level of service and attention to detail and vast professional and personal network to the real estate business to support clients as they achieve their home goals. Carolyn is a graduate of Hamilton College and received a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She currently serves on the Board of Managers for the Buffalo Society of Natural Science (Buffalo Science Museum/Tifft Nature Preserve), the Lexington Cooperative Market, and One Symphony Circle. Carolyn and her husband, Dr. Reed Stevens, both grew up in the Elmwood Village and have resided in Parkside since 2000, enjoying the marvels of Buffalo’s Frederick Law Olmsted residential neighborhood.

Great help for first time homebuyers with flexibility.

Mark was a great help finding the perfect home within my budget, especially as a first time home buyer. I had lots of questions and concerns.
