Like my Father, I was born and raised in Park Hill, just east of downtown Denver. I attended East High School; subsequently, continuing my education at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree from their College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Seeking greater knowledge, I attained an English Teaching Certification from Oxford Seminars, attended a year of law school in the States and abroad, and studied to become a sommelier. All of these expanded my real-world experience and introduced me to many people from many different lines of work. For the past few years, I have been working in the oil industry for Gilbert-Stewart Operating, LLC, (GSO) and Bird Dog Oil, LLC, (BDO) whilst studying for and passing the Colorado and National Real Estate exams. Along with starting a new position as a Broker Associate at Slifer, Smith, & Frampton, LLC, (SSF) I will continue to fulfill my duties at GSO and BDO with the intention of further expanding the existing groundwork between the oil industry and real estate. Before real estate, I earned my degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and worked in the field for five years. While I’m grateful for that experience, I discovered my true passion was working directly with people. My engineering background taught me to stay organized, solve problems creatively, and communicate effectively — skills I now use daily to find the right properties and negotiate the best deals for my clients. Outside of real estate, I’m also a certified yoga instructor with over 12 years of practice. I love sharing yoga and wellness with others and even co-founded a community group in Denver that hosts events like yoga, meditation, and other activities to bring people together. At the heart of everything I do — whether it’s real estate, teaching, or community building — is a genuine passion for connecting with people.

Meet Joy. Born and raised in Tucson, AZ, she started her career working for Travelers Insurance Company, after earning her business degree from the University of Arizona. She was soon transferred to Denver with their employee benefits department and absolutely fell in love with the city; she’s been here ever since. Joy’s favorite part of working in insurance was the people – her clients. Retiring from that industry to raise her two boys, Joy stayed busy remodeling several residences and integrally involved in building their current family home. She has always had a love for architecture, design, building, and real estate, and jumped at the opportunity to join the Slifer Denver team. With a knack for feng sui and interior design, she loves helping her clients beautifully stage their properties. And, with investment properties in Denver and abroad, she understands the needs of RE investors and good property management. Joy and her husband Andy reside in the town of Bow Mar with their two boys, Jack and Joe, and two dogs Fido and Frisco. She has lived in and around Denver from high-rises on Speer to homes in Observatory Park, Bonnie Brae, Belcaro and Wash Park. She loves paddle boarding, golf, skiing, yoga, pilates, traveling, horseback riding, mystery books and dinners during sunset at the beach.

After years of visiting Colorado, she found a different kind of pull in the mountains, outdoor lifestyle, natural beauty, and people she loves here. Before real estate, Kat built her career in relationship-driven advisory and growth roles, helping people make sense of complex decisions, build confidence, and move forward with clarity. Her experience across advising, business development, marketing strategy, and team leadership gives her a practical, business-minded lens for guiding property decisions. Kat’s current work includes hands-on involvement in downtown Denver luxury condo renovation projects and a new development near Sloan’s Lake, giving her direct exposure to how design, timing, positioning, and long-term value come together. Based at The Coloradan office, she works with clients throughout Denver, with particular attention to downtown luxury condos, renovation-minded properties, lifestyle-driven moves, and investment-minded opportunities. Outside of real estate, Kat is happiest exploring, from traveling somewhere new to walking Denver neighborhoods, finding a new restaurant or live music and shows, hiking, camping, practicing Pilates, or heading into the mountains for the weekend.
