We are very happy with our experience using The McKay Home selling team. This is not our first experience with the team. One of the reasons we chose them was the level of trust we already had established selling one of our rentals. John and his team listen closely and pay attention to what you’re saying and help you understand any of the process you may not be familiar with. Buying just bare land was a first for us and without John’s help we wouldn’t have gotten the property. They made things happen during crunch time getting our offer in even as we were ready to take off on a flight, literally sitting on the tarmac with the plane being delayed they got our signatures and when we landed 5 hours later our offer was accepted. We are so grateful to John and his team that this happened. As a team they all worked hard during closing to get all documentation and anything that they could to make sure due diligence was performed on our behalf. They talked us through things to ask the county and checking with other municipalities to make sure no stone went unturned too. All in all you could pick any realtor to sale or buy a home for you and it might even work out ok but we have a team that we can rely on and trust throughout the process.

Better than all the rest - John and his team are incredible! They know what to look for, and look for it. We visited many houses prior to finding "the one". Every time the house we visited wouldn't work for us, John would blatantly say that rather than try to push us into a sale. He knows the market EXTREMELY well and is constantly educating himself on new trends and passing along that knowledge to the buyer. Great guy…the BEST agent. He absolutely nailed a sale and then a buy for me. He increased the surrounding market when he sold our home in inner southeast portland in 2021. When we were ready to buy a home about a year later, he and his team threw all their time at finding me a place in an area outside of Portland though still close. We found that house in one weekend and John negotiated the sale price down when everything was selling for way over the asking price. He’s an assassin.

We had met John through neighborhood and events and felt he really cared for our community. It was our first time selling a house so we needed a lot of patience and guidance. The same technical things that made our eyes glaze over, made his eyes light up. John and his team were always on the ball, answering questions and making the suggestions that made the experience really great and didn't leave us feeling pressured into any decisions. We needed some extra time in the house after the sale, we got it. We wanted just the right people to replace us in the neighborhood, we got it. We left town for a few days and John kept an eye on the house for us. Here is the icing on the cake... We were buying a house at the coast and choices were limited. John helped us find an agent at the coast and actually gave us the lead for the house we wound up buying!

I can't speak highly enough of John Mckay as my real estate agent. Selecting an agent to sell your house can be a bit tricky, to say I got lucky with John would be a huge understatement, a flyer at my door haha. But after reviewing his home sales in my neighborhood and positive reviews from others using his services, I felt he could be the man for the job. Right from the get go upon meeting John, I knew I made the right decision, extremely professional, knowledgeable of the neighborhood, comp values, detail orientated, honesty and bonus points for having a great personality. I was able to put together a list of small items to address in regards to repairs needed to be done, and cosmetic enhancements to give the house more curb appeal. With John's help I was able to trim the list, add a few issues I overlooked, and put together a plan to get these tasks accomplished. Due to the fact that I already had vacated the property, without John's help it would've been virtually impossible to get my list completed. He had contractors and handymen lined up, basically had an answer for any issue we faced. I was amazed at the results of all the projects we were able to complete before listing the property, all done in a timely and efficient manner. The listing and offer negotiations went even better, John was able to get quite a bit more money for my property than I could've ever imagined. Throughout the entire process, John was constantly in contact with me via texts/calls/emails, keeping me up to date and informed on any issue. He was also able to do this while still respecting my own work hours, knowing what issues needed immediate answers and what issues could be discussed on my free time in the evenings and on weekends. Selling a home or property can be a stressful endeavor, I am so glad I chose John Mckay to get the job done!
