About David

I come from a family of immigrants, Italian and Irish. I’m proud to say that my dad was the first in his family to attend college and that spirit of hard work and self-determination was handed down; it has become part of me. Like most Italians, I treat everyone close to me like family and I thrive on the happiness of others. And in keeping with the Irish, my temperament is a mixture of warmth and wit. Real estate wasn’t my first career. I spent over a decade in public service culminating in the administration of President Bill Clinton. I’m very proud of that work, but a life in politics didn’t check the boxes when it came to self-determination or pleasing others. A close friend (now a colleague) suggested that I interview with his firm for a commercial real estate position. “You’re smart’” he said, “and a great negotiator. Just talk to the boss and see if he likes you. Who knows? Maybe it will be a fit.” Well, I did and it was. That simple choice to interview became the start of an exciting second life; culminating as an owner and managing broker of this dynamic company – TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. In many ways it feels like life has come full circle. When I was a kid, I loved to draw buildings and always dreamed of being an architect. Today, I help clients envision how to live their best lives even when that vision is not always obvious to them at first glance. I don’t just sell homes, I help my clients feel at home. Need a handyman? We’ve got it. Want to know the best bagel shop in your new neighborhood? We’ve got that too. Agents often say that the biggest compliment they can receive is a referral to another client . . .for me, the compliment comes when I know my clients trust me to find an answer to every question they have about homeownership. I grew up in a small town in upstate New York although DC has been my home since college. Along with Todd, my partner of 30 years, and our trusty canine companion Angus, I have lived around the corner from the National Zoo in Woodley Park for nearly two decades. I love hearing the lions roar when I go out to get the Post in the morning. I’m a big believer in giving back to the community. I serve on a number of boards and love to help other small businesses grow and thrive. I’m a voracious consumer of podcasts and vintage television; and when we’re not working, we broaden our minds through travel (think beach or vineyard) or hang out on our boat with friends, many of whom are also clients. Dave gave me really smart advice about pricing the listing of my 2 bedroom condo off 14th Street. Staging was great and sold above asking in two weeks. Pleasure to do business with a savvy, nice guy. Great team too!

Fantastic, Painless Experience Selling Our Home

When we were interviewing realtors, David said his goal was for us not to have to think about or deal with anything house-related between the time we handed over the keys to him and when we scheduled our closing. That was pretty much the case and it was great! David has wonderful vendors who handled necessary repairs, his staging and photos looked fantastic and he was very prompt answering our questions and providing updates on the process. He has a ton of knowledge and experience in DC real estate and made us feel like we were in good hands throughout the sale of our house (which sold at asking price!)

Condo would not have sold without David

I've worked with several realtors to buy/sell property, and David is hands down the best. David shows great attention to detail, has a discerning eye and goes above and beyond to complete the sale. We had our property listed with another realtor for over a month without any offers. After we switched to David, we had a full-price offer within 2 weeks (and this was in a softening market with rates continuously rising). I'm certain if David had not been our realtor, our property would still be on the market. In addition to clearly being very experienced, he is very easy to work with. You'll never work with another realtor again!
