Patient, Thorough, Candid, Dedicated (Read On...)
I'm in New Hampshire and my elderly, recently-retired in-laws are in Port Charlotte, FL. My wife and I started working with John Perkins during a 5-day trip down there in May 2021 to get my in-laws situated in a home of their own despite the red hot housing market--a market that was nearly priced beyond their means. John, as a Suncoast-affiliated realtor, first alerted me to a 10/1 ARM that was more well-suited for my in-laws than the 30-yr Fixed product we were shopping for them. It allowed them to keep more of their modest nest-egg invested in their IRA, rather than distributed to taxable income and tied up in a down-payment. He spent the summer patiently showing them properties and shared frankly with them and us any issues he saw in properties that might carry unwelcome maintenance issues. He endured the frustration of one cancelled agreement in July (due to adverse home inspection issues) and he continued to keep us all informed of properties that met my in-laws' criteria. His relationship with Suncoast also made it easier for him to deliver and collect hard-copy documents that my in-laws were ill-equipped to transact online and which we were unable to assist with from up here in NH. This extra footwork John did with cheerful patience, from May until August, until the closing of my in-laws' new home purchase today (01 Sept 2021). John is a thorough professional and an all-around good guy. We are extremely grateful that he presented himself to us and we cannot be more emphatic in our recommendation of him as your realtor.
