John and his team were wonderful!! When John and I first spoke, I told him what I wanted out of the sale of my home, and John did exactly that. Adjustments were made to accommodate my schedule. Any questions were addressed in a timely manner. The entire process was professional and efficient. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better process for selling my home.
As trustee of my mom's major assets I had to sell the house she could no longer live in, and my brother who works in mortgages put me in touch with him. Unfortunately much deferred maintenance during my late father's final years meant that it had to be an "as-is" cash sale, and while the house had been 4/5ths emptied a couple of years back we would still need the new owner to take responsibility remaining property. John and his co-worker Renee worked to effectively market the house and by a couple of weeks after listing we had the offer I wanted. For my first time selling a house I couldn't have asked for a better one!
We found John through a neighborhood open house and appreciated how he and his team had a lot of experience in the neighborhood where we wanted to sell (and stay in! just buy something better suited to our current needs). John, Jordan, Renee, and team helped us through both transactions and we appreciated how they 1) kept us informed of what was a top priority for us to do; 2) handled all the details behind the scenes, including a few twists and turns that arose, so that we were never worried, and explained the "need to know" clearly 3) dove deeper into any details whenever we asked. I can't say enough good things about working with John and Renee to sell our home. John was responsive from the very first phone call. He gave excellent guidance and advice. He was considerate and supportive. Selling our home was emotional. We were sad to need to let our home go but needed to sell. We love our neighborhood and community in SE Portland and John knows and supports the SE Portland community like no other agent. Renee was on top of all the details. We had a city permit that needed to be closed out. Renee facilitated the closure of that permit efficiently. Renee's communication and responsiveness is outstanding! She has all the details dialed in completely. We had our house clean, painted, and ready for new owners. We followed John's advice and got our home staged. John listened to us and we discussed listing price. John held an open house the first weekend our house was posted and he brought some delicious snacks and good vibes. We had 5 offers on our home that day. All of the offers were from amazing folks who wrote very thoughtful letters. We wish we could have sold to each of them. Our sale closed a few days early. We had a weird bank issue with our credit union, but John and Renee were ready to help us through that, as well. Overall, I give them 10 out of 5 stars! We are extremely grateful for their care, professionalism, and thoughtful handling of us and our home. We highly recommend John Mckay. We know he takes great care of all of his customers, neighbors, and community.
Working with Renee and John was so smooth. We live out of state and needed really great support and communication--they did it all. They made selling our home, which we had poured love into for the years we lived there, feel like a happy step. It sold on the very first weekend after being listed and for more than asking price. The McKay team is also really connected to our part of Portland, so having folks who know the neighborhood and its people and business was fantastic. We can't say enough good things about them.
