Have you heard the stories of people packing up everything and moving to Hawaii? Yes, I am one of those people. My family decided to move and within six months we had sold everything we owned in North Carolina and arrived on the Big Island in June 2014.
In our first 60 days Hurricane Iselle hit the island and we were without power for over a week. Power was restored and the lava flow from Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent from Kīlauea Volcano changed direction and headed toward our beloved Pahoa town. Through it all, the community came together to care for each other creating a strong sense of belonging and connection for me. What an amazing greeting from the Big Island!
I have discovered I enjoy lots of white pineapple, wading in a warm tide pool, the sound of the coqui frogs, and nights on the lanai. I also have learned about catchment tanks, solar power, the value of a 4-wheel drive and the importance of multiple pairs of slippahs. Real estate has allowed me to share what I love about the affordable paradise of the east side of Hawaii Island.

Growing up, I was always engaged in school and church activities, spending countless days on the beaches of Keaukaha and the Kohala Coast. After high school, I proudly served in the Hawaii Air National Guard, where I specialized in Computer Operations and Combat Communications. Fun fact: I’m trained in handling an M16 and was a marksman with the M9 Beretta!
In addition to my military background, I’ve been a passionate hula dancer for most of my life, with the honor of performing on the stage of Hilo’s prestigious Merrie Monarch Hula Festival.

I was born and raised in Hilo on the Big Island. After high school, I left Hawaii to attend college in Denver, Colorado and pursued a degree in Veterinary Technology. Colorado’s picturesque landscapes were incredible, but I couldn’t resist the beauty of island life. Before I knew it, I was moving back home with 3 new fur-babies, which taught me all about traveling to Hawaii with pets.
My initial interest in real estate took off after learning to navigate my own experiences as a homeowner. I’ve had the opportunity to work with lenders on several types of financing options. Over the last 10 years I’ve bought vacant land, sold a family home while navigating the probate process, started new home construction (twice!) from the ground up and oversaw the process through the Hawaii County planning and building departments. In addition, I am well versed on leasehold properties, specifically Hawaiian Homelands, having built my first home on leasehold land.
Each of these situations came with its own set of challenges and rewards. I quickly learned that having a knowledgeable guide to educate and support me through the process was an invaluable resource. The gratitude I felt for my realtor’s sharp, but down to earth, approach inspired me to want to help others in the same way.
Eventually I made the career shift to real estate, where I started as an assistant and transaction manager. These roles allowed me to learn from the best and provided me with valuable insight into the intricacies of the industry. From analyzing the market, to negotiations and paperwork, there is never a dull moment in this field.
Outside of real estate, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our beloved dogs. You can also find me working with a local resource conservation and development nonprofit, trying out new restaurants, or reading a good book when time allows.

When looking for a home, she’s the realtor you want!!!
Jeanna had kept me informed about the prospects of buying a home on the big island. She’s incredibly knowledgeable on lava zones and the impact on home insurance. The assistance she’s given at every step has been amazing. Whether it was to learn about our catchment system or general contractors to use, Jeanna had reliable people to share. Thought it took two years for me to move to Hawaii, Jeanna and I would find time to look at homes. Once my wife and I relocated, we had found and financed our home with in 6 weeks. Puts me at ease.
Jeanna has been my Realtor on two real estate purchases and soon on the third. Also, she has found two beautiful properties for my family in addition to mine. In my past, I purchased homes in several States and a foreign Country and cannot be physically present to tour a home which can be stressful to rely on the opinions of others. Jeanna's knowledge of detail and descriptions with video of my properties made the decisions easy and in both cases purchased the homes without ever first setting foot on the properties prior to making an offer. For forty years, I made a promise to have my home on the Big Island, Jeanna was there to have my dreams become a reality.

Negotiated the deal got me what I wanted what more could you ask for responded to me timely
helped me even after the deal was over dealt will all obstacles dealt with a non responsive agent on the weekends so it was a lengthy negotiation. Knows the area well does comps and guides you to properties you would consider

This review is long overdue: We had an excellent experience working with Jeanna Rimmer as our buying agent. Since we were purchasing from out of state, it was incredibly important to have someone who truly knew the area and local market, and Jeanna exceeded every expectation. Her expertise in the neighborhood, pricing, and market conditions gave us a lot of confidence throughout the process. Because we couldn’t be there in person, Jeanna took detailed videos of the homes and carefully walked us through every aspect of the properties, pointing out important details and answering all of our questions honestly and thoroughly. That level of communication and attention made a huge difference for us as remote buyers. She also had a strong network of trusted local service providers, which made inspections, repairs, and other logistics much easier to coordinate. On top of that, Jeanna did an outstanding job structuring the purchase contract to make sure important issues were addressed and we were protected throughout the transaction.
