Michelle McElrath (Severance)

When I first started my search for a new home 140 miles north of my present home, I came across a newsletter Michelle McElworth sent out to the local homeowners in the Five Cities Area. I gave Michelle a call- which she promptly returned. She turned out to be wonderful to work with- professional, responsive and an all around nice person. The Five Cities has been Michelle’s own community for many years Her enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the area gave me confidence in my decision to make the big move north. She also got me started with a really great mortgage team so there would be no delays when the time came to make an offer. Buying a house far from your home base can be difficult. Michelle arranged Facetime showings to help me decide whether or not to make the drive for an in- person visit. After a few months of looking, a potential house turned up that checked all the boxes. Michelle encouraged me to come up right away. I really liked the house and she put together an offer that got to the seller that same day. The offer was crafted to appeal to the seller's particular situation. Michelle nailed it! The seller chose my offer over a competing offer that was actually a little higher. The 30 day escrow was challenging what with paperwork, inspection, repairs and a tenant left only a few days before closing. But at closing I got an immaculate home in good repair . Michelle had persuaded the seller to get a cleaning crew and a handyman to get the house move-in ready. Even after the closing Michelle was there for me and helped me manage the termite tenting preparations. As I start to enjoy my new house, I know she will have recommendations for everything from gutter cleaning to decorators. Obviously I would go to Michelle again as a buyer or a seller. She listens to what you say and gets right to work. She has great resources and good negotiating skills. And- so important- she is a really nice person.
