Jan and I worked for a year before we sold my house. I was recently divorced, financially wiped out, extremely depressed, and stuck with a house that needed a ton of work, just to be able to sell it for enough to get out from under my loan. I had tried to sell it before, and barely got any viewings, and I didn’t get an offer. A friend of mine sent Jan my way, and she began the impossible task of getting my house sold. She went above and beyond in every possible way. I worked day and night, for months, to remodel the home, and Jan guided every change made. She picked the colors, designed the bathrooms and the kitchen that were completely remodeled, the wall paint, and the new exterior colors. She even helped me with the landscaping. At one point she drove me up to Chattanooga, to a home supply store and spent the day with me there trying to find any bargains we could. Beyond all of the help she gave me with the home, she became and still remains, my friend. She became someone I could talk to when I was feeling overwhelmed by all the work I was doing in my home, or when I was feeling angry about the state of my life. She encouraged me, and she gave me hope. Jan worked with me for just under a year before she even asked me to sign any paperwork. It wasn’t until we put the house on the market, that I even saw a contract. Everything, and it was no small amount of work, up until that point, had been done on good faith alone. She patiently waited through my missed deadlines, and a constantly expanding scope of work, without complaint, or even the security of a contract guaranteeing the sale was hers. Jan took my home, for which I couldn’t get $285,000, and turned it into a $400,000 sale, with an investment of less than $40,000. I could not ask for a better outcome.
