In the midst of personal upheaval, a hot housing market with limited inventory, and a pandemic, I needed to find a house quickly - as in less than 60 days to apply for a loan and get it approved, find a house, close, and move in. The depressing realization that I'd need to settle for something, for anything, and pay a hefty price was setting in. I always pictured a home with open space, a wonderful kitchen, a deck, and a big backyard. It was an image no longer grounded in reality. Then Donna came into my life. How? A mutual friend sang her praises and said you REALLY NEED to meet with Donna. So I set up a call with her, went into the details of my situation and the levels of anxiety and stress, and told her the pie-in-the-sky house I was looking for. Given the situation, I even felt embarrassed going into the details of what I was looking for. Donna was professional first and foremost, but also remarkably calming. I got a sense instantly that she truly understood, was absolutely committed to help, and despite the limited inventory, did not want me to give up on my dreams. She then set up video conferences (again, a pandemic) and she crafted a strategic plan for how we were going to approach this, going through all the tools at her disposal behind the scenes as an agent. We were going to be a rapid response team. As houses came on the market, one stood out - with all the things I was looking for. But it was clear the asking price was set purposely low to start a bidding war. And yes, it was a war. Donna rolled up her sleeves, sat me down, and went through the strategic thinking needed to define a bid higher than asking and cover our bases with an escalation clause. We game-planned lots of scenarios in terms of what other agents might be advising their clients to do. It was like an agent's game of chess.
