Moving numerous times across the U.S. during my childhood, college and married years provided me with an incredible amount of experience. Growing up within a family of seven and being spirited and energetic, I learned how to communicate with many different types of personalities and needs.
Staying at home to raise two boys for nearly 17 years taught me a great deal of patience and understanding as well as how to be financially wise and comprehend what the word budget really means! Having been a renter as well as a home owner, I can empathize and appreciate both the joy and financial security that home ownership can bring.
Volunteering extensively in both the Troutdale and Corbett communities has allowed me to fully understand what it means to be committed to a cause that I believe in with all my heart. It also taught me how to share my skills to help someone else.
I love living in the Pacific Northwest and spending as much time as possible in the outdoors. When not hard at work, I enjoy running, hiking, reading and value time with family and friends.
One of my greatest accomplishments in running was to complete the Portland Marathon without stopping, just prior to my 50th birthday. I like to hike at least once a month and enjoy finding a new trail wherever I travel. I have explored all over the Columbia River Gorge as well as Mt. Hood.
Since childhood, I have been a voracious reader. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to be a part of some amazing book groups over the years. I always look forward to starting a new book.
Time is precious and the older I get the more I realize how important it is to schedule family gatherings and not let too much time pass between seeing each other. I also cherish the relationships I have had with a handful of friends for over 30 years.
Working with RE/MAX has been such a blessing for me. I am able to grow my business in ways that fit right into my everyday lifestyle. Over the years I have become very familiar with the Portland Eastside and rural communities. I have attended many hours of educational courses, above and beyond what is required. I continue to want to seek more knowledge and experience each day.

My name is Mary Jeanne (MJ) Reif Sheveland. I am a Broker with RE/MAX Equity Group in Canby, Oregon. I am a third generation, Canby native. I started my career in helping people with their real estate investments in 2021. Before making the career move into what has become the "family business," I was a teacher for 10 years, almost half of that time at Molalla River Academy, a rural charter school in Molalla, and the other half in Canby, at Cecile Trost Elementary. I believe my years of teaching helped me develop many of the tools I now use daily to be the best partner I can be, for YOU, my clients, as you walk through this journey of buying or selling a home. I was recently awarded Rookie of the Year for all of RE/MAX Equity Group, for my first full year of sales.

My exposure to the world of real estate is broad. My mom, began her real estate career when I was in college, and I vividly remember her hours of studying, leading up to her licensing exam. She worked as a broker for 20 years. My access to knowledge and experience runs deep. My dad joined the field "retiring" after a long and successful career as a regional sales manager in the pet food industry. He was quickly recruited as principal broker for the Canby branch of RE/MAX Equity Group, and served in that role for 9 years before stepping down about 3 years ago, to begin a slow approach towards true retirement. My first year I was blessed with the opportunity to partner with him. His support and mentorship has been invaluable.

RE/MAX Equity Group they donate a portion of their commission to
Children’s Miracle Network and the Equity Group Foundation. The local
CMN beneficiary is Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. They
also enjoy being able to volunteer at their church and giving to various
local community organizations and events. David serves on the Equity
Group Foundation board as well.

Great Knowledge of the Corbett Market
As soon as we realized we were going to have to sell our house, we contacted Michelle. We had a great experience with her as our agent when we bought our house. She toured the house and provided great suggestions for quick renovations and staging ideas. We were on a tight timeline and began to get antsy. She reminded us to be patient, that, "We only get one opportunity to list this house. We want the house to be perfect." Her staging and patience advice were spot on. We accepted a full-price offer one week after the listing went live. Michelle was very communicative throughout the entire process, ensuring we were updated when necessary. She was always available to answer any questions we had. She made what could have been a very stressful event smooth. We will continue to recommend Michelle to anyone we know looking to buy/sell a house in East County. Michelle was outstanding.

Above and Beyond: A First-Time Homebuyer’s Dream Realtor
I truly couldn’t have asked for a better realtor. From start to finish, she went above and beyond to make the entire experience smooth, fair, and successful. As a first-time homebuyer, I was nervous about all the contracts and paperwork, but she took the time to walk through everything with me line by line. That meant so much—I always understood exactly what I was signing and what to expect next. Because of her guidance, I now feel confident and empowered for the future if I ever decide to sell. Her communication was phenomenal. She stayed in constant contact, keeping me updated every step of the way and making sure I always knew what was happening and what I needed to do. I never felt out of the loop. On top of all that, she was an incredible cheerleader. She believed in me, supported me, and never once made me feel like I was less than—especially as a single woman working with a smaller budget. That kind of encouragement and respect meant everything to me. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation. Michelle is truly the best!

There were many issues in selling our sister's condo. Michelle was great at every turn.
Michelle was able to lead us in the very difficult selling of our deceased sister's condo. She made sure we understood every issue and did over and above what was expected of an agent. We closed on March 13th. Thank you, Michelle, you were GREAT.
