Moving from out of state brings with it significant challenges (inability to get a feel for an area, inability to view homes in-person, inability to have an ear to the ground on potential homes becoming available, difficulty in building a relationship with a realtor, etc.). These are unavoidable but critical to overcome. Leah was an enormous gift to us in our home buying experience. If you’re thinking of working with her, you can just stop reading here and sign the papers - you won’t regret it! We were moving across the country from Boston to Austin during the coronavirus pandemic, which presented many out of the norm challenges. But time and time again, Leah was a reassuring presence who always had an answer for us. We toured homes virtually, and relied heavily on Leah’s expertise in the Westlake area, honesty and candor. Once she learned what we were looking for (and we were quite particular), Leah presented us with a home we hadn’t considered, and we fell completely in love! The sellers had an offer in hand, but with Leah’s negotiating skills and sound advice, we were able to secure the home in 48 hours! Her help didn’t stop there - she has constantly been a resource for us as we learn about our new community in the Lost Creek. She provided a personally-curated book of known and reputable contractors, fields any questions such as “where do we go to swim?” and “are there local mom groups?”, and even let us borrow her air mattresses while we waited for our belongings to arrive. Our family planned to move to Austin from Miami last October. I was referred to Leah Petri at Gottesman and she immediately went to work. She is a native Austinite and provided us with helpful information about Austin, the different neighborhoods, school options, restaurants and attractions. We were not prepared for the unusual Austin market. Leah educated us about the market, the economy and future growth guiding us to make the most informed decision possible for a long term real estate investment. Beyond that, we had a very specific type of house in mind and were not willing to deviate from what we wanted, an architectural gem. Leah showed us possibly hundreds of homes in an 8 month time span. She was patient and professional by using her many resources including private market listing (we had never even heard of that), networking with people in the real estate business and coming soon listings. Leah unturned every stone in our areas of interest until she unearthed the perfect home meeting every single one of our criteria. She guided us through the negotiations and overcame the several hurdles until we finally closed. She provided us a timeline with deadline dates of things that had to be completed prior to close. Please keep in mind, that this was our 8th home purchase so we thought we were veterans but clearly we had a lot to learn and were so grateful to have Leah as our advocate in this tedious process. After the close, Leah was hands on deck by even coming over and helping to arrange furniture and gave us every possible resource from handyman to gardeners etc. She went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations in every possible way.
