About Jenny
Los Angeles native Jenny Mosbaugh has always felt a gravitational pull toward real estate. Before becoming an agent, she bought, sold, and renovated her own homes. The experience inspired her to carve out positive experiences for her clients that echoed her own. Jenny’s background in nonprofits and startups provides her with an entrepreneurial foundation and an empathetic investment in her client relationships. Jenny is grateful and excited to be a part of the Backbeat Homes — Clarkliving Team, where she can flourish and grow while maintaining her own individuality. In her free time, the Boston University grad enjoys yoga, scouting out the best hole-in-the-wall eats in Los Angeles, hiking with her dog, singing in the Metropolitan Master Chorale (or at dive bar karaoke), and hanging out with her family. Since she was a teenager, dog rescue has also been a significant part of her life, and she’s been an integral member of Angel City Pit Bulls since 2011.

About Steve
I was a touring musician for almost 15 years, living in and out of hotels, tour buses, and airports. After so much time on the road, the importance of having a place to call home really resonates with me. It’s been almost 20 years now since I stopped touring. Nearly 1,000 real estate transactions later, I’ve gained some unique experiences and insight into what works in the LA real estate market and what doesn’t. Every client, every home, every transaction is unique. I don’t approach the sale of your home with a one-size-fits-all model because that isn’t going to work best for you. I’m not just trying to sell your house or get you a new one; I want to see you build a home and a life where you can flourish personally and creatively. I want you to find a place that truly inspires you. I make it my business to understand your home and your neighborhood well enough to be able to identify who the buyer will be before we get started. That way, we can reverse engineer our plan, making sure the right buyers experience your home in a way that will have them emotionally engaged from the moment they see it. Relationships are everything to me, and I have the utmost confidence in my dream team of vendors. Whether it’s in getting your house ready for sale or working on your new home, I’ve got a vetted pool of inspectors, contractors, maintenance workers, videographers, stagers, electricians, and more. You’ve got enough going on without having to research every subcontractor you might need — we’ve done the legwork for you. I understand how emotional and stressful it can be to buy or sell a home. For most of us, it’s the biggest purchase we’ll ever make. I don’t take that lightly, whether it’s your first house or your 50th. My goal is to offer you the most professional experience alongside levity, humor, and genuine connection. Of course, I want to help every client do as well on their sale or purchase as possible, but never at the expense of their sanity. It’s incredibly important to me to represent you fiercely and ethically while keeping you feeling confident, educated, and informed throughout the process. About Allie
When I meet a new person at a party or the gym, and they tell me they’re a real estate agent, I immediately start employing an exit strategy. When new people ask me what I do for a living, I appreciate the surprise on their faces when I break the news. I entered this business because I knew there had to be plenty of other people like me who got itchy and anxious at the thought of dealing with certain professionals. Among such professionals are Realtors® and mechanics. After years of building and bolstering my team, I’ve come to understand the most rewarding part of this industry are the relationships you build. There are also many opportunities to approach real estate through a creative lens. I graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in creative writing and painting, and I use my background to approach all areas in this business as art. I’m proud to guide the aesthetic and voice of our brand. As an agent who represents both buyers and sellers, I can do that while understanding all angles of each transaction. This helps provide you with a competitive advantage since I know what buyers and buyer’s agents will seek in your home and your listing. Outside of work, I spend time training muay thai, practicing yoga, lifting weights, and spending time with my sweet husband. I’ve also spent 15 years working with V-Day International, a nonprofit that strives to end sexual and domestic violence.

About Karen
Southern California native Karen Jones’ professional career began on the business end of the music business. For over twenty years, she worked in sales, marketing, and music licensing before discovering her true niche in the real estate world. Karen’s business acumen and attention to detail have served both buyers and sellers well, but it's her personality and nature that directed her toward her specialty: working with senior clients. Jones is a designated Senior Real Estate Sales specialist (SRES®) and is passionate about helping older clients through transitional real estate phases. As our industry shifts and agents try to capture a younger audience, careful service for seniors can fall by the wayside. It takes a particular level of empathy, communication, and patience that Karen has mastered and practices daily. From the logistical hurdles like estate planning, assistance with packing and moving, and project management to the emotional work of being a soothing, reassuring, and knowledgeable guide, Karen is dedicated to the clientele who need hand holding without condescension. Real estate transactions with seniors often involve more decision makers, often in different locations, and take quite a bit more time and prep work to execute properly. In a business of short attention spans, older clients can trust Jones to take the time they need to feel confident in the process and comfortable with the changes afoot. Jones herself is a member of the South Pasadena Senior Center and has spent many years volunteering as a member of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts

About us

Being in tune with seismic shifts is naturally ingrained in Angelenos. For almost two decades, we’ve kept an eye not just on the real estate market, but on the nuances of the way the industry itself is evolving. Like a lot of industries, there’s been a long-growing trend toward monolithic companies and automating the client’s experience. But in residential real estate—a business rooted in emotion, communication, and a personalized experience—we decided to turn away from a trend that we believe is destined for backlash. After learning important lessons from different brokerages over the years, suddenly there was a possibility to merge the two worlds we knew worked best: nationally ranked tech and boutique brokerage functionality. Side, a white-label brokerage, supports us with the industry’s leading technology and national reach while allowing us to work independently as a boutique firm. With this powerful silent partner, we’re able to run a brokerage with no pretense and no shareholders; our priority can always be our clients, not investors in our company. As we set out to grow what was once a small, misfit team of endlessly hardworking Realtors for people who don’t like Realtors, our last task was coming up with a name. How do we succinctly explain who we are and what we do? In my past life as a professional drummer, I was singularly focused on creating a solid foundation for my bands’ songs. A strong backbeat anchored each track and allowed my band mates to weave their magic on top of it. I’m not a frontman; I’ve always done my best in the background as the support system that allows other people to succeed. When my daughter was born I was still touring, and at two years old she barely recognized me. She was the reason I gave up the road and chose to pursue real estate. The backbeat I was in charge of shifted from supporting my band to supporting my family and my clients. I found that there were through-lines in songwriting, parenting, and helping people with their real estate dreams. The main thing that seemed obvious was my place- in the background, keeping the beat. Saying, “This isn’t about me,” in the midst of other people’s lives seems obvious, but in an ego-driven business like ours, you’d be surprised. I ran the naming question by my daughter, who’s grown into an extremely talented musician in her own right. Knowing all that she knows about music and about us, she said, “Why not Backbeat?” And as it tends to be, the clarity was instantaneous. Backbeat Homes: the through-line supporting you, keeping the pace, and helping establish the foundation of your real estate experience.

Thoughtful, responsive, client-centric experts

My husband and I worked with Steve and Ceinwyn Clark over the last year in our search for a new home. We worked together for almost a year and felt completely supported by their patience, wisdom and good natured professionalism at every step. When the moment came to make an offer, they were extremely thorough and buttoned up, making what I always imagined to be a complicated and stressful process extremely humane and straightforward. They love what they do and they take care of their clients. We never felt pressured to move faster, stretch our budget, or pick something we were 150% happy with. We feel incredibly lucky to have worked with such smart and caring agents throughout this major life milestone, and I’d recommend them whole heartedly to anyone in the process of buying or selling a home. Thank you Steve and Ceinwyn!

We loved working with Steve and the team at Backbeat! They helped us buy this home back in 2020 and sell it now in 2025. Everything was so seamless. We moved cross country before we listed and Steve and team took care of absolutely everything from listing to open houses to staging to closing while keeping us updated at every step.

The Same Tenacity in the Ring and Real Estate

The Same Tenacity in the Ring and Real Estate

Allie and I have trained Muay Thai together for a long time. For many years I’ve watched her train ruthlessly, and even though I’m more than a foot taller than she is, she never shies away from kicking me in the head. When I was ready to buy my first home in Los Angeles, I had a feeling Allie would have the same tenacity and endurance as an agent. We did in fact end up winning in a very competitive situation. My home came along during a very difficult and complicated time in my life, and I had to be out of the country for almost the whole transaction. I knew I could trust Allie to keep everything on track for me despite the stress and significant time difference with me being abroad. Even when things became complicated, I never doubted that Allie was advocating for me fiercely.

Relentless Optimism and Professionalism

My wife and I knew it would be a struggle finding a new home on the westside of Los Angeles while splitting time between Pasadena and La Quinta but somehow Steve, Ceinwyn and Tess made it all work. It was truly a marathon hunt for a perfect home involving countless showings all the way across town and we were accommodated and heard every step of the way. Homes go exceedingly fast in the South Bay where we landed and Steve handled all our concerns and questions with grace, honesty and care. Unbelievable network of vendors and contacts to make an extremely stressful situation as smooth as possible.

They don't make them better!

They don't make them better!

Impossible to know where to start! From navigating the sale of a family complex to making sure all sides of a deal are covered to simultaneously helping us find a new home clear on the other side of town, Steve, Ceinwyn and Tess moved mountains to make sure we were taken care of in every possible way. Our property was owned by two generations of people with very different ideas on how to sell it and every step of they Steve was reassuring, professional and knowledgeable without ever pressuring anyone into making what were -clearly- the right decisions. We could not recommend Steve and his team more!
