About Steven Nickens: A Life on Maui and a Career in Real Estate Living on Maui for the past 50 years has been an incredible journey. I first arrived on this beautiful island at the age of 19, with nothing more than a hundred dollars in my pocket and a surfboard. By the time I was 23, I had built my first home in Haiku. While my professional achievements are significant, my greatest success is my family. My amazing wife and I raised four wonderful children, all of whom are thriving and now raising families of their own. Real estate has been my lifelong passion. Over the past 30 years, I have dedicated myself to helping clients buy and sell unique properties across Maui. Along the way, I have been honored to receive numerous awards as a Top Producer. It has been a blessing to work and live in Maui, combining my love for the island with a career I truly enjoy. My experience extends beyond buying and selling homes. I’ve had the privilege of working on many of Maui’s most distinctive sales projects, including Wailea Beach Villas, Ho’olei Wailea, Papali Wailea, Wailea Fairway Villas, and properties in Spreckelsville on Maui’s North Shore. I also managed and sold a subdivision in Haiku. Whether it’s the luxury communities of Wailea and Kihei, the serene estates of Upcountry Kula and Haiku, or the stunning properties in Kaanapali, I bring extensive expertise to every transaction. Before starting my career in real estate, I was a licensed contractor on Maui for 16 years, co-owning Nickens Interiors with my brother. This background in construction gives me unique insights into the structural and design aspects of properties, which is invaluable to my clients. One of the things I enjoy most about real estate is the opportunity to combine my marketing expertise with my love for Maui. I blog regularly to showcase properties, highlight the island’s unique lifestyle, and share Maui’s charm with the world. By leveraging internet ranking, social media, and connections with agents and buyers in Canada and the mainland U.S., I ensure my clients’ properties receive worldwide exposure. Outside of work, I am an avid surfer and windsurfer, and I love spending time in my garden or playing guitar.
