“Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.” This quote from John C. Maxwell could have been the backdrop to Sherrie Zaring’s life path. Her ability to provide both education and solutions to those around her would become her trademark, and the source of her success in real estate.
Sherrie grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee in a small, tight knit family community with both sets of her grandparents nearby. Her Dad was involved in starting a volunteer fire department when she was just five years old, and she practically grew up riding a firetruck. At the age of 12, she became certified in First Aid, and at 14, she joined the ‘Explorers’, a division of the boy scouts set up through the fire department. She stayed involved in the fire dept until she turned 18, and then earned her EMT certification and began going on emergency calls.
However, that direction and excitement would be short lived. As much as it shaped her positively, one specific event would also change her direction almost overnight. She worked a car accident one evening which ended in the death of a fireman’s young twin nieces. She had to work on the drunk driver that hit their family, and it left such an indelible mark on her, that she changed career paths almost instantly. She would need to find another way to fulfill her purpose and passion.
Just like her experience as a first responder, she became drawn to help people who truly needed guidance. That thread of empowerment that seemed to be woven through everything she did would lead her to real estate, and to the very people she was destined to empower. She enjoyed working with veterans, people with special needs, and families experiencing the complications of probate. She wanted to empower those experiencing major life changes by thoroughly educating them so they can make sound, safe, and successful decisions. In fact, that’s how she earned the mantra, ‘Empowerment Agent’.
Today, Sherrie is known for thoroughly explaining each step of the process & communicating clear expectations. She empowers families through the complexities of probate and estate sales with genuine care and concern. She has more than eight certifications and designation in real estate, empowering her to deliver top notch service. She’s passionate about helping her clients make sound, successful, and safe decisions.
When Sherrie isn’t empowering her clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband (Pete), daughter (Caitlin), and their three cats (Nala, Opal & Otis). They love to cook together and entertain extended family and friends. In the future, she would love to help train service or search and rescue dogs, and possibly join a search and rescue team. She says the thing she is most proud of in her life is that she has raised a daughter who is strong, confident, and driven. Yes, great leaders empower others, and everyone who enters Sherrie’s life and path is no doubt the recipient of life altering empowerment.
