Having grown up in the Piedmont of North Carolina, I came to the mountains over 30 years ago to attend college and escape the heat and humidity of the “flat lands”. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Biology and Natural History, I worked for 17 years in non-profit administration, living in several communities across North Carolina. However, the mountains kept calling to my wife Leeann and I. We decided to move permanently to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2005 when I started working in real estate.
After careful consideration of many areas in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, Leeann and I chose Ashe County as the perfect place to raise our family. The small town atmosphere, good schools, cool temperatures, and great scenery appealed to us. We have not been disappointed. We have two children. Aaron is a 2011 graduate of Ashe County High School and Mahaley is a 2021 graduate of Ashe County High School. My wife Leeann teaches at Ashe County Middle School.
Our family is engaged in all kinds of outdoor pursuits including paddling the New River, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, camping, and hiking. Leeann is also a self-published author. I enjoy using my knowledge of the natural wonders of this area to help others find the perfect place in the mountains where they can enjoy life to the fullest.
