A Southern California native, Mike Shenkman’s career has spanned over two decades and included training, development and managing broker roles within some of the most prominent real estate companies throughout Southern California. In addition to his work in sales and management, Mike has experience in affordable housing, community development, property management, redevelopment, and mortgage finance. He regularly acts as a consultant for land use planning and has served as an expert witness in trials regarding real estate disputes.
Mike is an Alumnus of UC San Diego, where he completed his Bachelor’s in both Sociology and Urban Studies & Planning – graduating Cum Laude with High Distinction Honors. He would subsequently complete a Master’s in Planning (MPL), a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA), and a Graduate Certification in Political Management from USC. In 2021, Mike returned to UC San Diego as a professor for Real Estate Development majors in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning.
He is an active participant with the San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) as a regular instructor for agents at all levels of their career. He is the current chair of the REALTOR Political Action Committee (RPAC), the former Vice-Chair of Government Affairs, and a current member of the Grievance committee. In 2022 he was elected to the SDAR Board of Directors and in 2023 was named REALTOR of the year.
He has worked on real estate legislative policy for the City & County of San Diego, and most recently advised on COVID policies for various municipalities throughout the State of California. He currently holds designations for Buyers Representation (ABR), Short
Sale & Foreclosure (SFR), Property Management (PMC), Military Relocation (MRP) and International Property Sales (CIPS).
