They say the best advertising is word of mouth, and Melinda came recommended to us by a good friend who has lived in Long Beach for decades. In my many years buying and selling our homes, I have come across many real estate agents with lots of knowledge and unfortunately lots of skill at pressuring their clients. All buyers find that a turn off. What I really found distinctive about Melinda was the total lack of pressure. She was full of ideas, knowledge of every part of the city we wanted to look at, constantly checking back and refining our search criteria. And not once in six months (yes, with COVID-19 it really took that long to find the right home) did she or anyone on her team pressure us to make a decision we would later regret. We came close once, and backtracked. I expected that to annoy her, but quite the opposite, she was genuinely glad we did not take something we had second thoughts about, and continued to guide us onto other properties. With the prohibition of open houses, it became difficult to get in to see homes but "difficult" is not "impossible" and Melinda did work it out for us to view both "virtual tours" as well as in person tours. Although we lost a few bidding wars, Melinda and her team were quick to suggest strategy in the next situation that arose and each time we got better. Although I have said a lot so far, I need to end this note with acknowledgement of The Elmer Team's "after sale philosophy." You might expect your agent to disappear after the deal is done. On the contrary, after the offer was accepted, she was in contact with us through the final steps of securing the loan, setting up inspections, closing escrow, setting up tenting & repairs, and advice on contractors for our pool installation, ADU development and Hydrojetting. Buying a home is stressful enough; keeping track of all the details is a massive task. Melinda and team kept us on plan and covered all the details. We credit her for our home buying success.
