I would not recommend Mary-Beth Hafer. What should have been an exciting home purchase became stressful, and we often felt we had to advocate for ourselves. Our first red flag was that Mary-Beth refused to show us homes until we signed a buyer representation agreement. We were uncomfortable, but went against our better judgment. The homes she showed us were not tailored to our needs, and much of what she sent was AI-generated rather than personalized. Ultimately, we found and chose the new build ourselves. It was not a home she had shown us. When we discussed making a lower offer, she immediately said the seller would not accept one because the property had already been reduced. We had not even given her a number. Meanwhile, two other homes from the same seller nearby remained unsold and were reduced again. After settling on the new build, we paid approximately $25,000 for upgrades. Mary-Beth advised us not to be as detailed in the addendum. Some work was completed incorrectly, and we were told we owed another $600 for upgrades we believed were included. We proved what we had requested and the charge was removed. During this process, Mary-Beth did not even know what a “niche” was, despite it being one of the features included in our upgrade requests. We also had to pay for her assistant, who repeatedly made contract errors, including incorrect names and addresses. As closing approached, communication became poor. Mary-Beth went on vacation, followed by a period of little to no communication when we needed her. Closing was stressful, with pressure to remove items from our TRR that we believed still needed to be addressed. A realtor should listen, communicate, pay attention to details, protect clients’ interests, and advocate for them. We did not experience that with Mary-Beth. We did not feel represented, supported, or confident that we could trust our realtor to advocate for us. I would not use Mary-Beth Hafer again.
