Margaret Combs, introduced and recommended by a mutual friend, and I shared an instant connection with the sharing of the same kind of old fashioned first name. I liked her, and knew that I could work with her, from the moment we met. She was kind, low key and very personable. Right off, I referred to her as TOM (The Other Margaret). As I was selling my home of nearly 50 years, I had very little knowledge of how and why the current real estate market operates. Margaret was very gracious with all of my questions, educated me throughout the process and kept me well informed. The listing and sale went very quickly and without a hitch. Our home sale was not easy but through it all Margaret rolled with the punches and got the job done. She did a lot of work with getting bids for staging the house which we decided not to do anyway. I sometimes felt it was unfair to have her do all this work and not be paid for it. She NEVER gave up. She communicated constantly with us at every stage. She kept her sense of humor. I have known Margaret since 2012 and this is the 4th transaction. I live 95% overseas and I completely relied on Margaret to sell my house. Not only as an agent, but as a friend, adviser and coordinator for repairing my house before selling it. As a coordinator for the repairs, she dutifully performed her task, though this is completely beyond her responsibility as an agent. The fact that we have known each other for over 10 years really helped as you knows me very well. As an agent, she knows the market and knows what has to be done to sell a house. She is also patient, particularly when I was ambivalent about selling the house (went with a price that was higher than she recommended the first time we tried to sell this particular house 3 years ago). I did accept an offer though it did not go through as I was very tough in detailed negotiations 3 years ago (I could always rent it out). This time, when I really wanted to exit, I listened to her and the house was under contract in 4-5 days and sold quickly like clock work. If you are a regular family that wants to buy a house and live there forever, Margaret will make the process as pain free and straight forward as possible. She is straight forward, kind, competent and will not screw up. If you are an investor, Margaret knows the market and can give good recommendations in terms of price and strategy. Perhaps the most important is that she is straight forward, honest and does not screw up. She is also professional and can deal with the aggressive approach of many investors.
