I met Kathy when my parents and I were searching for our first house in the US. My friend, who is her neighbor, recommended Kathy to me. As newcomers, it was a frightening process because it is different from Europe. Moreover, we were very restricted in terms of time and had specific conditions. Meeting Kathy was a blessing. I had thousands of questions, not only about the house itself but also about things that are obvious to locals but confusing for foreigners, such as bank checks, which I knew nothing about. She was always patient and helpful, even when there was unpredictable and stressful behavior from the seller’s realtor. In addition to the language and cultural barriers, my case was challenging because I use a wheelchair, and we needed a property that would accommodate my physical condition. I believe that without Kathy, I would have given up on finding the right home and navigating all the bureaucratic procedures. She was as supportive as an old friend you can rely on, guiding us every step of the way. After closing the deal, she also helped with advice about our new condo. Later on, she became our family friend. Moreover, she introduced my parents and me to her husband, Chuck, whose help was invaluable. Chuck works at a construction company NewPro, and after seeing how risky it was for me to use the existing bathroom, he made me aware of a loan program for people with disabilities to reconstruct the bathtub into a roll-in shower. So now, we are in the process of getting that too, and we hope that our international friendship with that wonderful couple will thrive

This was not an easy process for me. While I loved the little cottage, it was time to let it go. It sat in a flood zone and folks were buying properties to build bigger and higher near the ocean. It is a lovely spot, and I bought as a getaway; not to profit. I'm not too realty-selling savvy.
