About Joseph

I was born in Lebanon and migrated to the U.S. with my family in 1994. We lived in New York for a few months and then moved to Chicago making it home. I joined the United States Naval Sea Cadet Crops, Carl J. Stockholm Battalion at 13-years-old where I would become the Battalions first Chief Petty Officer. I attended Amundsen High School in Chicago and upon graduation in 2000 I went to North Park University where I graduate in 2007 with a B.A. in Politics and Government. I moved to Sterling Heights, MI in 2012, and then Metamora in 2015. I attempted to join the Navy at 17 but was denied due to my citizenship status at the time. I ended up joining the Illinois National Guard in January of 2001 at 19. From there I would deploy to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003-2004 driving convoys into Iraq. In March 2006, I became naturalized and a week later deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom until 2007, stationed in Camp Anaconda as a Security Escort Team Commander for Convoys and asset recovery. In 2009-2010, I deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I served as the Sergeant of the Guard for Camp Eggers, later moved to the New Kabul Compound, and upon extending for 3 months, served on PSD-B for Camp Eggers. In 2018-2019 I deployed to Camp Taji Iraq on an Advise, Assist, and Enable mission working closely with Iraqi Army improving Logistics and warehousing capabilities for the Iraqi Army I retired from the Illinois National Guard, completing 20 years of service. I join the REFAC team to help make clients dreams come true. Joe was everything you could ask for in a realtor

From answering our texts in a timely manner to digging out the septic lid Joe was the best. He was understanding when we changed our minds several times. He was very knowledgeable and told us up front some situations that could arise from selling and buying a home. We felt prepared and knew he had our backs. I would 100% go with Joe again and I would recommend him to friends and family.

Professional, Honest, Informative

Over 2 years we worked with Joe to get into our home. When financing fell through on our first attempt he waited and kept up-to-date with where we were in the process of buying. As soon as we were ready again he jumped right in and made sure we had all the information he could give us to prepare for the process while booking over 20 viewings between the 2 different buying processes. Joe really has extensive market knowledge, communicates effectively and thoroughly, and never once acted in any way less than professional.

House hunting is horrible.

The area I was searching in was small as were the homes in my price range. Regardless, Joe showed me several properties. He attempted to help me close on more than one. When my lender declined the first one, Joe put in the effort to get me to closing on the second one without question. Having a real estate agent with knowledge is one thing. Having one willing to put in the work is everything else. Real Estate for a Cause and Agent Joseph Gemayal made all the difference. Oh, and as a veteran myself, knowing a portion of my agent's commission went to help veterans was an added benefit. Thanks, Joe.
