During his college years, Jose earned First Team All-League honors in his freshman and sophomore years at West Valley College and was named All-Academic in his senior year at Sonoma State University. Having played soccer from a young age, he advanced from recreational leagues to semi-professional play with the Santa Cruz Breakers FC in the USL2 league. Soccer has taught him the importance of hard work and teamwork.
