The Standard For What A Realtor *Should* Be
From the moment I started working with John, I couldn't have been in better hands. My girlfriend and I were first time home-buyers; there were a ton of things we just flat-out didn't know about the real estate market or judging a home. We researched a lot online beforehand, but until you actually start seeing houses, you're kind of just fumbling in ignorance. This lack of knowledge, coupled with a modest budget, could've meant that we wouldn't be taken seriously by whoever represented us. We might've just been an ancillary account to someone, or a "less important" client.
Our experience with John and Sarah could not have been more different. They spent a lot of time getting to know us, what we liked and disliked, what we looked for in a house, and what our aesthetic preferences were. They recommended listings they thought might be good fits for us, and when we went to a house and knew early on that it wasn't right, they understood immediately and made us feel validated in that judgment, rather than pushing us to keep looking at it. They were flexible and receptive to all the texts and calls we sent their way, getting us in for showings the next day or even the same day if something good suddenly came on the market.
Most of all, they made us feel like our house hunt mattered personally to them. They were right there with us when we got call after call that our offers had been rejected (despite going tens of thousands over asking). We were trying to buy a house in the aftermath of COVID, and John told us that in 27 years of doing real estate, he'd never a seen a market like this. Both John and Sarah were incredibly positive for the 9 months we spent shopping; they did our best to keep our spirits high, and to stop us from feeling discouraged. And when we finally did find the right house, no one could've been happier for us than they were.
THIS is what a realtor is supposed to be, and if/when I move again, there's no one else I'd go to first.
