You could say I grew up in real estate. Neither of my parents were agents, but my dad was an investor leading the way “flipping houses” before that was even a term. I clearly remember my first job in 1975. I made a quarter a day using a “naked” razor blade to scrape paint off windows in a rundown old house my parents were renovating.
I learned the nuts and bolts of the real estate business – literally – from working closely with my dad, a real estate investor and contractor. Little did I know that I would eventually be helping my parents divest their real estate holdings and downsize due to health issues.
My husband and I have bought and sold seven homes in six different states. I understand the process from both the buyer and seller side personally as well as professionally.
My clients are almost exclusively seniors, so I have a network available to make sure you have the resources you need to make your transition as easy as possible. The desire to help seniors was cultivated by my grandmother. The real estate intuition was passed down from my dad. Those qualities paired with my personal personal and professional experience with downsizing, gives me the perfect balance of empathy and business savvy to help seniors through what is often a difficult transition.
I have further solidified my commitment to seniors, I became a Certified Senior Advisor® – the only real estate agent in Western North Carolina with CSA® certification. I have the Seniors Real Estate Specialist® designation. As Board Chair for the Henderson County Council on Aging and volunteer for TRIAD Henderson County, I work to keep aging adults in their homes as long as safely possible. You can be sure that I am well versed in the overall needs of seniors and their support network.
In the early mornings, you will likely find me in the pool with the Asheville Masters Swim Team. I have made many friends through the local homeschool community and Toastmasters International. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Council on Aging in Henderson County, The Blue Ridge Literacy Council and TRIAD.
