Janet and her partner on the Bidwell/Hogrefe Team, Pamela Hogrefe, enjoy the challenges of creating innovative campaigns to launch new properties to the market, and negotiating for their clients. With their stellar list to sell track record since 2000, (including many homes marketed unsuccessfully with another firm/agent), there is no question they can get the job done!
Before embarking on a career in real estate Janet was the owner of an elementary/high school/college textbook design and illustration firm, supplying major publishers Prentice Hall, MacMillan, WH Freeman, Elsevier and others. She was at the forefront of the Mac/PC explosion, beta testing design and illustration software for "desktop publishing". Her 15 years at a premiere advertising and design house in Manhattan with clients such as IBM, Rolling Stone, and Estee Lauder, where she honed her expert eye for detail and design with some of the giants of the advertising design industry, enable her to create beautiful promotional products for her clients.
The Bidwell's were one of the "pioneer" families of the North Fork Vineyard and Winery experience, establishing Bidwell Vineyards and Winery in Cutchogue in 1979. Bidwell quickly moved to the forefront of award winning North Fork wine producers.
Janet loves theatre and music, is an accomplished pianist, and served for years on the board of directors of the North Fork Community Theatre in addition to performing on stage in many musicals and comedies. Another passion is the environment. An amateur astronomer, she is proud to have served on the Dark Skies Advisory Committee. The new lighting code she participated in writing was adopted in 2007, and was created to preserve our dark skies from light pollution. She served 9 years on the board of directors of Hallockville Museum Farm whose mission is preserving the agricultural heritage of the North Fork, and is the current Secretary of the Long Island Mineral and Geological Society. Janet has also been active in Greyhound and Dachshund rescue organizations.
Other memberships include the National Association of Realtors, the Long Island Board of Realtors (a former director of LIBOR), and the New York State Association of Realtors. Janet is also a Certified Buyer Representative (CBR).
