There are pivotal moments in our lives that often dictate our direction. For Ernest Govan, one of those was when his Dad told him he didn’t believe he could sell anything. That brought out his rebellious nature, and paved a path that led him straight toward sales. Another was when he helped two police officers purchase a dream home that they didn't think they would qualify for, and it changed their lives...and his.
Ernest was the oldest of five children, and born into a military family. He attended kindergarten in Germany, and high school in Japan, which gave him a balanced view of various lifestyles and cultures. After graduating, he landed a job selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door to door. Not only did he excel at that job and prove his abilities to both his Dad and himself, it’s how he met his future wife, Lynn.
Twenty five years later, after holding various sales and leadership positions in corporate America, Ernest decided to make the leap toward real estate. He began working for a home builder, learning the steps involved in new construction. Though it was valuable knowledge, he still felt he had not reached the pinnacle of his purpose. He felt that a move into residential real estate sales would give him an opportunity and the flexibility to impact even more lives. Now, he’s known for providing a stress-free journey, and becoming part of every family he helps. He has also earned the mantra, Your Dream Maker Agent, a brand he displays with great pride.
Today, Ernest is an advocate for young professionals & growing families who are seeking their first or second dream home. He also assists those who are relocating to the area and need a seasoned expert on the ground. He specializes in dream home opportunities in the low country, including new home construction, and is recognized for his persistence, signature hats, and ability to make dreams come true. As such, he has been awarded Realtor of Distinction since 2019, and has earned multiple real estate designations and certifications so he can continue the honor of being in the top tier of Realtors in the Charleston area.
When Ernest isn’t making dreams come true and fitting into every family just like the hats he wears, he’s spending time with his wife (Lynn) and their three children (Melissa, Jonathan, and Whitney). He’s also active in his church, being both an elder and serving on their board. He still travels often, and enjoys movies, playing games, and riding his bike. He says his path and purpose was secured in 1987 when he became baptized, and realized that the world is far greater than just himself. Now, he realizes that he lives a dream life because he’s blessed to spend his days helping others achieve their own.
