Our quest for relocation was not an easy one. By the time Catherine became our realtor I had already spent scores, perhaps even hundreds, of hours combing through websites for a future home that would check most of the boxes on our wish list. After an exhaustive search that right one was being sold by a couple going through a messy divorce made even more complicated by their difficult realtor. Meanwhile we had sold our home and, being good Americans, had through the years accumulated an embarrassment of stuff that would have required several storage lockers if it became necessary to lease an interim dwelling. Despite having several other sales pending, Catherine by way of her finesse, tenacity, and resourcefulness met the daunting challenge of keeping the communication flowing on both ends. Hello prospective home buyer. I kinda figured that buying a house was a little bit like a vintage Clint Eastwood spaghetti western. Offer them A Fist Full of Dollars and if necessary A Few Dollars More. Then we learned, thanks to the guidance of Catherine Cotton, our esteemed agent, that in today's real estate world there's more to putting in an offer than boots and spurs alone. The language and structure in the purchase offer is key. Had it not been for that bit of coaching we would have been outbid by another party who offered well into the 5 figures more than us. Then there was the unaffiliated mortgage company that at times gave us a bit of a roller coaster ride. There too, her coaching and timely communication with the lenders, quick replies on our texts and calls, kept things on track. When we inquired about but hesitated to request a few items in need of repair, could it have been her pleasant disposition had something to do with the seller's agent and sellers kind gesture to make these corrections at no charge?
