What's around 575 Worcester Drive

About this property

Large, three-lot, flat property that has been enjoyed by four generations of the seller's family for 56 years. The house ? built in 1930, with two additions ? includes a detached garage that has an attached art studio. Great potential for further development and beautiful additional landscaping. Ocean view from the street. The house is 3.5 blocks from the ocean. A two-minute walk takes you to the trailhead of the breathtaking Fiscalini Ranch. A beautiful park ? Andy?s Garden, on the northeast corner of Worcester and Guildford ? is just 125 feet away. This was the home of David Hand ? supervising director of the world?s first feature-length animated film, Disney?s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as well as Bambi ? and his wife, the seller's grandmother, Martha Armstrong-Hand. An internationally renowned sculptor, she created some of Mattel?s original Barbie dolls, and virtually all of the figurines in Disney?s View Master series. A member of Disney?s hall of fame, she was once named ?the most technically correct doll artist of our time" by a fellow member of the National Institute of American Doll Artists. She used the ample natural light, and peaceful environment in and around this historic house, to sculpt her masterpieces in the family room, and fire the porcelain in the studio attached to the garage. After Martha?s passing in 2004, the Hand House was inherited by the seller's mother, Ruth Armstrong. A highly-esteemed artist herself, Ruth was beloved by the local community, and cherished the house until her passing this year. 575worcesterdr.com

Monique is best agent ever

We just closed yesterday on a home in which we were represented as the buyer by Monique Brown -- our first home, at age 24, in Cambria, 3 blocks from the beach. We saw it while at an estate sale across the street, told Monique, a friend of Sean's mother, and she literally took it and ran. We made an offer within a week. Sadly, we were out-bid with an offer substantially over asking price. We thought were done. We were prepared to move on. But she didn't quite see it that way. She was like a dog with a bone. She was not going to give up. We still don't know how, but she convinced the seller we were more worthy, and our offer was accepted, even though it was less than the next offer. Then she went to Cambria from Laguna Beach, where her office is located, after arranging meetings with architects, contractors, and termite experts, upon which information she then went back to the seller and negotiated nearly another 3% reduction in price. And then we closed in 30 days. Neither of us with any credit history. And we got a mortgage rate at a competitive rate. The lending agent, Ciresica Lasc, referred by Monique, really came through, when others said we would not qualify. Monique even got us connected with a State Farm agent (Scott Lord) through which we got an amazing price not just on the homeowner's policy, but our auto policy too -- reducing our monthly auto insurance payments! This was all Monique. She worked every day on our case. We were absolutely floored at how aggressive, determined, and effective she was at getting us something we never thought we could get. She's our realtor forever. Every day we live in our new, cozy Cambria cottage 3 blocks from the ocean, we will think of, and be grateful for our dear friend, and fantastic agent, Monique Brown. Monique – you ROCK!

Audrey was a joy to work with, got me top dollar for my home, and made the process remarkably easy.

I’m very glad I chose Audrey to sell my family’s home, and recommend her without hesitation. I interviewed a number of realtors before hiring her. There were a number of reasons why I chose her, in particular: 1. Zeal. She showed a level of passion for her work — and specifically for selling my home — that I found in no other realtor that I interviewed. And I don’t just mean zeal during the interview. I mean zeal throughout the entire process. She clearly cares about her work and her clients, at a level that I didn’t sense in other realtors with whom I spoke. 2. Integrity. I found her to be honest and transparent with me and the people she worked with at a level that I didn’t sense in many of her colleagues. I think this engendered trust not only in me, but also in buyers and their agents. She could have made choices that could have increased her profit at my expense, but she didn’t. I was very impressed and appreciative that she valued integrity so highly over profit. 3. Relatability, humility, and collaborativeness. She didn’t hold herself out to be an expert — even though I did (and still do) see her as one. Instead, she treated me as an equal; took my input into account; and recognized that I was the final decision maker, when it came to the sale of my family’s home. Even when I insisted on doing things in ways that she didn’t entirely agree with, she worked with patience and cooperativeness, without making me feel bad for having my own preferences and points of view. I also found her to be very down to earth and authentic, without airs or pretense, in a way that put me at ease. In fact, the feeling like I was talking to a friend rather than a salesperson is probably the number one reason I chose to hire her, rather than anybody else. 4. Intelligence. Audrey was very strategic, in terms of how she structured the sale. Without her intelligent strategizing, I’m confident we would have made a significantly smaller profit, with more problems, in the end.
