Steve became our agent after another agent in his office, Windermere in Bellevue, Washington, decided that he could provide more appropriate service to us. (Please see our review for her as well: Kitty Ballard.) Steve has all the usual skills, but additionally, as a former Marine active in veterans issues, he is very knowledgeable about VA loans.
At the time, we were slogging through the process of getting a VA loan through our initial lender, where things were fine up to the point where there was a paperwork glitch at the VA. When he learned that our lender was leaving the situation with the VA up to us, Steve recommended that we talk to a lender he was familiar with who he said would be more proactive.
That proved to be the case, and the loan process became much easier. Meanwhile, Steve really heard us when we told him what we wanted, and in turn he educated us about buying directly from a builder, which can have advantages at the settlement table. That’s what we ended up doing, and Steve made the negotiation clear and about as easy as it could be. We couldn’t be happier with our new home and we remember the buying process without pain.
Steve is tremendously responsive in his communication, and extremely helpful about things like preparing documents for e-signature so they can be signed more quickly.
He was fun to work with, has great people skills, is very team-oriented, has a ton of knowledge about the real estate business, and really enjoys his clients and his work. And if you’re looking to buy with a VA loan, he is extremely skilled at dealing with the issues you’ll be facing. We were very stressed out when Kitty put us together with him because of the VA issue, and it was remarkable how things fell into place once we started working with him. A special agent and person -- highly recommended.
