Moving from east coast Covid oppressed NJ in the midst of the first summer surge was an experience, to say the least. Arriving in Silver City on a Saturday precluded any real estate activity, but I left a message at Hacienda Realty and was fortunately connected with Shelley Scarborough on Monday with an in-person meeting for the next afternoon. Outfitted with a handful of potential homes to investigate, I combed the area alone to get a feel for the community and ascertain a hopeful perfect location of my first new home! Shelley accompanied me to actually view three of the potential sites by Friday afternoon. Conducting a personalized busniess interaction behind and constrained by the face masks and constant hand washing was not easy, but Shelley made it as comfortable as possible within those constraints. Selection made, we began the formal process early the next week. Our seller was, shall we say, recalcitrant, unmoveable and difficult (his property actually on and off the market for over the last 3 years). Despite the delays, Shelley was instrumental in guiding me through the mortgage, inspection and filing aspects of this process and facilitating the closing. Less than six weeks after arriving in New Mexico, I stepped across the threshold of my new home in Tyrone. Signed, sealed and delivered! Shelley made quality suggestions for the inspection, bank mortgage, repair/handyman and more . . . Her patient gentle charm extended beyond that. Noticing that I was a person who appreciated plants and flowers, she called one day and asked if she could drop off a few potted plants that she specifically cultivated for me and delivered to my front door. Most survived the fall outdoors and now are flourishing in my south-facing sunroom, together with my bearded dragons! So every morning as I raise the blinds and welcome the brilliant sunshine, the plants breathe a happy sigh - thanks for our new home, Shelley.
