Imagine the job of having to show 3 Australians around NY looking for an address that had characteristics they felt comfortable with in Melbourne. We saw twice as many apartments than we would have if we knew the city better. Scott was well connected to other agents and properties on the market, or coming onto the market. He did a superb job of finding gems to look at and showed tremendous patience. In the end we overshoot our budget by 30% but Scott is so good he made us feel good about that! If you are coming to NY from overseas, Scott is your man.
I went into our recent search for an apartment to purchase with a great deal of trepidation: the NYC housing market is challenging at all levels, and my husband and I had a long list of things we wanted in an apartment. Scott had been highly recommended by a friend many years ago, and in the time since then he helped us find our past two rentals. So we had a very good idea of how he works and what we could expect, and knew we wanted him to be our broker for this purchase. He started the process by collecting information about our goals and explaining the process, which provided a good start on putting to rest my worries. He put together an excellent list of candidate apartments at the full range of price points we were open to, which gave us plenty of data about what we could afford and what features we could compromise the get other things we wanted at a comfortable price. He offered excellent advice on neighborhoods we were unfamiliar with, and pros and cons of the buildings on the list. And he scheduled the viewings in an exceptionally time-efficient, organized way, working with my husband's very constrained schedule. We found an apartment that met our goals in what must be record time, he helped us very quickly come to a price agreement with the seller, and he fully managed the board application process. He offered names of other professionals we would need during and after the process (real estate lawyers, designers, etc). And as has been the case every time, he was a complete pleasure to work with. Scott made what had been a daunting prospect of tangling with the NYC real estate market into--as unlikely as this sounds--actual fun. I can completely and unreservedly recommend him.
I can't recommend Scott highly enough. He is an excellent agent and a wonderful person. Although we were selling in a tough market, Scott worked his magic and we were able to sell our apartment in short order. He helped us ready the apartment for sale, scheduled open houses that were promoted and well attended and was a pleasure to work with.
