For Sam Shaffer, the recipe for success is hustle—with a huge helping of humility. And that hard work has paid off—as he is recognized again as the top 1% broker for all Realtors by the Chicago Association. But none of that success has gone to his head. “I never want to rest on my laurels,” he says. “I’m still striving to be better. I still have a lot that I want to accomplish and achieve—so every day is a grind and a hustle.”
That nose to-the-grind attitude and humble spirit is what differentiates Shaffer from his competitors. Restless, detail-oriented, empathetic—this is Shaffer. “I have truly my client’s ultimate best interest in mind every step of the way,” he says. “I am not chasing the money or the paycheck. I’m chasing the client’s ultimate satisfaction to provide the best real estate experience possible.”
For clients about to list, Shaffer offers these three “must” tips: “Price it properly; have the home in showing condition (staging, decluttering); and make sure you properly advertise.”
For buyers, tip No. 1 is to make sure you are prequalified so you know your exact buying power—advice worth keeping in mind for what Shaffer thinks will be a market frenzy come spring. Look for Ukrainian Village and Fulton Market to continue to be hot neighborhoods, he predicts—and areas close to public transportation (specially the Blue Line) to see a resurgence as more people return to the office.
But ultimately, no matter where you’re buying or selling in Chi Town or surrounding suburbs, Chicago Properties Firm owner Sam Shaffer will eat, sleep and breathe your dream until you are “over the moon,” he says.
