Robert is a Broker Associate and Partner at ReMax Select in Avenel, NJ. He joined the company in January of 2023. He began his career at J.J. Elek Realty in 1985 and was part of their management team from 1995 to 2022. Over the years, Robert was one of the top-producing agents, winning top salesman for the company in 1999, 2010 & 2011. He achieved several sales awards during his career, including the prestigious NJR Platinum Circle of Excellence award in 2022.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Metro Centre Association of Realtors. In 1991, he was named Realtor Associate of the Year for Middlesex County. In 2022, he was named Metro Centre Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year. He has been the New Jersey Association of Realtors 'Million Dollar Club Award Winner' and 'Circle of Excellence' for the last 35 years. He has served on several Realtor Committees at the state and local levels, including their prestigious Community Service Committees. In 2004, Robert received the Professional of the Year award from the Perth Amboy Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, he received the Distinguished Community Leader Award from the Prodigal Foundation. In 2010, Robert was named Citizen of the Year by the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Robert was born and raised in Perth Amboy and graduated from Perth Amboy High School. He is a third-generation businessman in the area. His grandfather, Joseph Comento, owned and operated the Eagle Barber Shop on Amboy Ave. for over 30 years. His parents, Neil and Gloria Durso, owned and operated the Duralco Mfg. Co. on So. Second Street for 45 years. He is married to the former Kally Efremedis, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Nicholas and His wife, Christina, and Zachary and his wife, Candice. Robert and his family have resided in Woodbridge Township for over 35 years.
Robert is an active Perth Amboy Kiwanis Club member and has served as a past president. He is a Woodbridge Economic Development Corporation member and Chairman of the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD) Board of Directors, the Central Jersey Multiple Listing System President, and the Raritan Bay area YMCA Board of Directors.
Robert is a Past Chair of the Central Jersey Chapter of the American Conference on Diversity. Additionally, he served on The Metro Centre Association of Realtors Board of Directors, the Mayor's Police Advisory Board, and the Municipal Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition for the City of Perth Amboy. He is a Past President of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary's Holy Name Society. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Perth Amboy's Boys and Girls Club and as their CVO and is a past Chairman of the Board for the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Robert and Kally are also active supporters of the Hackensack Meridian Healthcare Foundation. Robert has followed his parents' tradition, is committed to his family, and actively participates in improving the communities where he lives and works.
