About RICHARD

Richard Stanley is a veteran real estate agent in the Los Feliz, Hollywood Hills, Silver Lake and Echo Park areas of Los Angeles. He moved to this area in 1978 and has lived locally ever since. After earning his real estate license in 1987, he joined the architectural and historic properties boutique, Mossler, Deasy and Doe, and worked mostly in his home neighborhoods. Two years later, in 1989, he joined the premier real estate brokerage in Los Angeles, the Jon Douglas Company, at their Los Feliz office. Coldwell Banker absorbed the Jon Douglas Company in the mid-1990s. Despite the name change, Richard has been with the same office for 32 years. His first love in real estate is his home market’s rich legacy of first-rate residential and historic architecture, however, the same renown architects lent their talents to many local commercial projects as well. Over the years, Richard has represented residential and commercial properties by historic architects such as Richard Neutra, Rudolf Schindler, Gregory Ain, Wallace Neff, Harwell Hamilton Harris, Elmer Gray, Sumner Spaulding and Lester Scherer, as well as contemporary architects such as Wes Jones and Tony Unruh. Though most of his practice is of a residential nature, he regularly represents smaller office, light industrial and other commercial properties. Over the past 30 years in the business, Richard was the top-producing residential agent in his office at least 15 times. Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Albright College, Reading, PA and a master’s degree in fine art, photography, from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. Prior to entering real estate he worked as a magazine editor, writer and photographer; as a voice-over talent agent at the then-largest commercial agency; as a legal assistant for a major Los Angeles law firm and for a large automobile dealership doing leasing, financing and sales. He has served on many local boards, including the Los Feliz Improvement Association, the Laughlin Park Association, the Friends of Griffith Park and the Antiquarian Society. He lectures regularly at the Los Feliz Library on the arts. During the first five years of the Los Feliz Ledger newspaper, Richard was the real estate columnist. He collects antique and Classic automobiles and is a regular contributor of articles on automotive history. Richard has lived in his primary market area since 1978. In 1994, he purchased a foreclosed house in Los Feliz’s Laughlin Park. The house, designed and built by supermarket heir, Walter Ralphs, Jr. in 1953 as his bachelor pad, took six months and a broken piggy bank to restore. Richard has lived there since. The house may be seen at www.theralphshouse.com.

Could not have done it without Richard

In a few words, just the best we could have asked for! I live 2,700 miles from LA and needed to settle my brothers estate which included selling the house out of probate. Richard handled everything from making the house ready for sale to managing multiple offers. Just can not say enough. Professional and just a pleasure to work with. Thank you. Richard

Excellent realtor. Knowledge of the area helped sell the house in 3 days.

Richard was very professional and knowledgeable about our area. We got a good feeling from the start. His knowledge of the property was the reason home sold so quickly. After property sold, he continued to help us find the rental. He will always be our friend and realtor.

Exceptional service, attention to details, great communication skills.

Richard is a fantastic real estate agent. He is proficient in every aspect of selling a house. His knowledge cannot be faulted in any way. He is always on time for appointments, presents himself well, as is able to easily communicate with all parties involved. He also follows through with all the documentation for correctness and timeliness. Richard is personable and puts people at ease when dealing with them. He went the extra mile to find and recommend a suitable real estate agent in the state where I was relocating, and his choice was superb. When dealing with something as important as selling your home, Richard is exactly the person you want on your side.

THE VERY BEST!

Richard Stanley is an exceptional real estate agent as well as a gentleman. He is very knowledgeable of the real estate market, the history of the surrounding areas and the trends of the current sellers and buyers market. He is very diligent, patient and thoughtful of your requests and needs, Richard knows just about everything about real estate and if he doesn't know, he will investigate and will find the answer! It was a very pleasant experience working with Richard both selling and buying. He made both transactions almost stressless and things moved like clock work. I can't recommend Richard Stanley highly enough. He is the "go to agent" when you need to sell or buy!
