Purchasing real estate as an International student
My name is James Hermanto and I am an international student from Indonesia currently pursuing a degree at Loyola Marymount University. When I moved to Los Angeles back in January 2019, my parents wanted to invest on a condominium, because we travel a lot to the states and often spent holidays in Los Angeles. In my parents’ point of view, looking for a trustable agent is very important, because my parents were busy at that moment and couldn’t came over to the states, so I was on my own. Then, a good friend of mine introduce me to Remora Woo, an agent with 8 years of experience in the field. She is a very diligent and hard-working woman. With her help we looked at lots of Condominiums at West Wilshire and Century City area that was currently up for sale. Because of her persistence, we were able to saw almost all of the good ones in just a month. And so, after several discussion with Remora, my parents made up their mind and made an offer on the property. For us, advice from the agent is very crucial, because it involves a special skill on deciding the right amount for the offer. The condo we were buying was also targeted by bunch of other people, and so the negotiation made by Remora was also important, because we didn’t want to pay for an unreasonable price, neither low balled them. After a week or so, our offer managed to be chosen and we were very happy. However, the second challenge came not too long, which was to find a mortgage that wanted to give credit line for international citizen like us. Since, Remora is a very hard-working person, she managed to get us a credit line with a low rate in just a week.
