Born and raised in the Christian County Area, Monte graduated from Lincoln's Challenge Academy in 1999. After graduating Monte joined the United States Army Reserves and served his country for eight years, being active in Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 at LSA Anaconda in Balad, Iraq.
After being honorably discharged from the US Army. Monte graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and sold cars for many years. While selling cars, Monte met his wife, Catherine, and her two boys. Dylan and Kalen. Together they have a daughter named Randi and currently live in Taylorville, Illinois. Monte and Catherine are lifelong members of VFW Post 4495 and love helping in the community, especially veteran-centered projects like the Lake Taylorville Veterans Memorial.
