Born in Los Angeles and then moving to Santa Barbara at a young age, Mike Herbert spent his formative years in Palos Verdes and Montecito. His upbringing was deeply influenced by his family's commitment to law and social work. His father, James K. Herbert, an esteemed attorney at Richards Watson Gershon, also served as a law professor at Loyola Law School. Meanwhile, his mother pursued her own law studies at Loyola while dedicating her career to social work. Currently residing in Santa Barbara, California, Mike has developed a profound appreciation for the region's beauty and unique character. However, his family's legal legacy extends beyond the stunning landscapes. In the landmark municipal law case Curtis v. Board of Supervisors, Mike's father, along with Glenn Watson, secured a significant victory that ensured voting rights on municipal incorporations for all residents, not just property owners. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes, shaped by their firm's passionate representation, was incorporated in 1973 and has flourished for over four decades. Following their success, Mike's parents returned to Santa Barbara, the place they were married, and laid the foundation for the California Law Institute of Santa Barbara. Collaborating with their friend and colleague, Thomas Williams, they established a law school on the former Riviera campus of the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). In 1978, the merger of the two institutions led to the creation of the Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law, thriving with campuses in both Santa Barbara and Ventura. Mike's educational journey included attending several prestigious institutions such as Mount Carmel School, Crane Country School in Montecito, Ojai Valley School, The Webb School, Feather River Preparatory Academy, and College in Santa Cruz. Throughout his studies, Mike's passion has always centered around people. Driven by his dreams, visions, and personal ideas, he embarked on a hands-on career in real estate. In his free time, Mike indulges in riding motorcycles and surfing, fully immersing himself and his children in the wonders of the outdoors. Above and Beyond

It is challenging to describe how FANTASTIC my experience selling our condo through Mike was. I live out of state and was helping a family member to sell his property. Mike truly went out of his way, over and over again, to help me to navigate the entire process, from beginning to end. His knowledge of the market, the area and property values along with his extensive network of other brokers and escrow companies made the sale go very smoothly. As with many home sales, there were a few bumps in the road, but he helped us to navigate through any issues that arose in a swift and concise manner. He’s awesome. Fast and friendly service. He’s real savvy.

My wife and I needed a second home for investment and we were so lucky to get his information. We tried to start looking on our own well knowing that we were qualified but we encountered some people that would not see us because they needed the pre-qualification letter. When we meet him, he started showing us homes the same day because he is so well prepared. He has the best contacts in the business. He made a call, we answered a few questions, send out some proof of income and we were ready to go. We closed super fast and we got the house we wanted. Spending time with Mike was so pleasant because we had many fun and productive conversations. Now we have a new goal; to start our own portfolio. I recommend him 100%. He is the best.

Mike is awesome!

We were referred to mike by our best friends and he did not disappoint! The market is rough right now and I’ve heard so many horror story’s! We were first time home buys and didn’t know what to except really but had assumed it’d be several months until we found a home. The first week we found a home we liked and a month later it was ours!
