We had a beautiful house everyone said would sell in a heartbeat. It didn't. Who knew there's such an obsession with having a master bedroom and bath downstairs? The fact it's a gated neighborhood meaning no drive-by lookers didn't help. Even so, Martha got us a good offer after a couple months. It fell through when the appraisal came in absurdly low. Two months became four and then six. Martha could easily have bailed on us after our contract with her expired, but she and her associate Jason kept re-upping and showing the house like it was grandchildren photos. It finally sold after 8 months. Martha and Jason were profiles in energy, tenacity, unsinkable optimism and kindness throughout. I'm sure they ended up working for less than minimum wage. If there was a Nobel prize for real estate they would get it.
