Joe Fila has been engaged in marketing and sales for his entire career. In 1976, he established his own marketing and advertising company and developed an international clientele with a special focus on the shelter industry. The Company offered a broad spectrum of services for builders and developers like Mortgage Guarantee Insurance Corporation / Janis Enterprises, Nicholas Morley Enterprises, Arvida Corporation, and Vector Land Group. Services included the design and production of corporate and project identification programs, marketing and feasibility studies, sales and leasing collaterals, signage, sales center exhibits, outdoor media, and print, radio, and television advertisements. Joe gained an education through his company’s indirect sales support that prepared him well for real estate sales. He obtained licensure as a Sales Associate in 1982 and upgraded to Broker Associate in 1987.
Cervera Real Estate, one of his clients, invited him to join their firm as Executive Vice President responsible for 47 associates in two offices in 1987. During his tenure with Cervera, he served as Project Manager on one of the luxury condominium conversion ventures that the firm specialized in and led the Commercial Leasing Division with one of the firm's partners.
Joe joined the Builders Association of South Florida in 1980, where he remained a member for more than 16 years. He served in leadership positions on numerous committees including “The Idea Home for the 80’s”, “Membership”, “Public Relations” and the “Annual BASF Home Show”. Joe’s other civic and philanthropic involvements included leadership roles in Rotary Clubs and Rotary International; the Boy Scouts of America; the Elephant Forum; the Coral Gables, Greater Miami and Finnish-American Chambers of Commerce; the Business Council for International Understanding and the South Florida Center for Theological Studies. He served as Special Advisor under then Florida Secretary of Commerce, Jeb Bush, and as a Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business in 1986.
After more than 30 years in Miami, Joe moved to Sebring in 2003 and now devotes his energy to brokering and investing in real property. He currently serves as a Broker Associate with Advantage Realty 1 of Highlands County.
