We were impressed by John’s honesty, communication skills, persistence, and his firm, but not pushy, manner. And, last, but not least, his maintaining a sense of humor in the face of difficult situations. We know John socially and when we told him we were going to try and sell our condo by owner and we told him what price we were going to ask, he suggested that we get an appraisal. That was his polite way of telling us we were asking too much money. We ignored his advice and wasted time with the unit on the market by owner at a way too high price.
When we changed our minds and decided to list the unit with him he helped us find a better price. Then he jumped right on it and gave it the full-court press with open houses, contacts to other agents and by word-of-mouth reaching out to his extensive contacts.
He would always go the extra mile. Because of the layout of our building there was a long way to walk to our unit; The buyers agent had to go to the concierge desk in one building to get the key from the lock box and then walk a long way through the building with the buyer. John immediately realized this maze turned people off. So he instructed every buyer’s agent That he would meet them, key in hand, at the front door of the building that our unit was actually in and take them directly to our condo. No maze!
In the end, he found us a cash buyer and the deal closed two weeks after we signed the contract. Through his persistence, his honesty in telling us the truth about the price, and his business like, but light touch when dealing with us or others, he brought this deal to a successful close and in doing so exceeded all our expectations.
