8/21/23 In November 2021 I lost a first cousin who died intestate in California. As far as I knew, it would be up to me to figure out what to do about his estate as there was only one other first cousin, and he was content to let me serve as Administrator. I reached out to my contacts, trying to find someone in California who could assist me, and one of them pointed me to Gunnar (Sven) Jonsson, (socalbroker) a real estate broker familiar with the area. From my first contact with Gunnar, he proved to be the source I needed to guide me in correctly handling all that California’s probate laws would throw at me. He responded to every question quickly and never made an error. He made suggestions that proved to be just what was needed. Gunnar’s knowledge and patience are exemplary and the main task, selling the property, was accomplished with calm and assurance.
Following mom’s passing, we had to sell her townhouse (my childhood home), which was part of her trust. Gunnar was sensitive to the fact that we were still grieving our loss, and he walked us through every step taking as much off our plate as possible. He was professional, knowledgeable, provided frequent education of the process and updates every step of the way. He showed us his research on the market value and got full asking price. He handled everything, from properly notifying the existing tenants to confirmation of the close of escrow and transfer of funds. He did ALL the legwork, leaving us with making decisions and signing on the dotted lines….A LOT of dotted lines!!! Incredibly, the entire process only took slightly more than 30 days!!!! Gunnar was a lifesaver in the way he helped us navigate the potentially overwhelming process of selling a house during a very vulnerable time for the family. We met Gunnar via a telephone call from him regarding a family member home in Probate Court. We were taken by his knowledge, his calming demeanor and promise to be available when we needed to call. That time came and his willingness to help was certainly comforting in a time of great stress and confusion. Probate Court is very complicated and even more so when the home is in one state and we reside in another. Virtually, we were able to accomplish a year’s worth of court dates and forms and when the time came to be able to list the house, Gunnar was there to pick up the keys and find the ultimate buying couple.
