Douglas “Doug” Graffeo
Realtor® at Engel & Völkers Slidell Mandeville
I’m not in the business of selling houses. I’m in the business of building relationships and protecting my clients’ best interests - financially, practically, and long after the closing table.
I’ve been a full-time Realtor for nine years, serving buyers and sellers throughout Slidell, Mandeville, and the Greater New Orleans and Northshore area. Before that, I spent 26 years in law enforcement as an investigator, motorcycle officer, patrol officer, and field training officer. That background shaped the way I approach real estate: deliberate, protective, and focused on outcomes rather than transactions.
My philosophy is simple. If I provide real, tangible value - clear information, honest guidance, and strong advocacy - clients will naturally want to work with me when the time comes to buy or sell. I don’t pressure. I don’t rush. I don’t treat people like a commission check. I treat them like they are embarking on the most important investment of their lives, because for most people, that’s exactly what a home is.
When you work with me, you get a high-touch, high-accountability process. I walk clients through every step with plain language and practical checklists. I coordinate the details most agents leave to chance - utilities, insurance considerations, wind mitigation opportunities, post-closing recommendations, and the small but critical things like changing locks on day one. I believe the best service is the kind that prevents problems before they happen.
I charge a premium for a reason. My standard buyer-broker compensation reflects the level of work and advocacy I bring to every transaction. Clients who choose me understand they are hiring someone who will fight for their numbers, their timeline, and their peace of mind. I put the same effort into a modest first home as I do into a higher-priced property, because the responsibility is the same.
Local knowledge matters here. St. Tammany Parish has its own nuances - well and septic systems, parish tax processes, flood considerations, school districts, and the realities of living near the water. I live in the area I serve. I know the neighborhoods, the practical challenges, and the people who make this community work. That local grounding helps me guide clients toward decisions that still make sense years down the road.
My clients tend to stay in touch long after closing. Many become friends. Most refer their family and colleagues. That’s the only metric that ultimately matters to me. A successful transaction is not just a closed deal - it’s a client who feels protected, informed, and glad they chose the right advisor.
If you’re looking for an agent who will treat your move with the seriousness it deserves, who will give you clear answers instead of sales talk, and who will still be available after the keys are in your hand, I’d welcome the conversation.
I’m here when you’re ready.
