Derek possesses the one thing that is non-negotiable in a real estate agent-EMPATHY. He understands the situation that each of his clients is in, tailors a plan to define, refine, and attain their goals, and is a strong advocate for their interests in negotiating the transaction. Many people will say their realtor is a fierce negotiator (aka bully) but I think that misses the point and can be counterproductive. Derek knows, unlike many top realtors in San Diego, that you can end up getting what you want not by being demanding but rather consultative with the other agent, foregoing the adversarial nature that most realtors adopt and instead using his people skills to lead the negotiations in a direction that gets to a result unattainable through confrontational negotiation. He is thorough, up to date on the rules and regs in CA, and will not under any circumstances lead a buyer into a purchase if he for a moment thinks its the wrong decision.
