In course of leisurely looking to semi-retire and relocate from Beverly Hills to Rancho Santa Fe, ready to take on a deferred maintenance project in need of upgrades and a facelift, we found a perfect gated community, golf course adjacent, prospect – but only if the price plus the expense of the work made economic sense. Although Bree then was an agent of the listing broker, she acted, objectively and empathetically, responsively and ethically, as an intermediary and mediator, calmly communicating both parties’ respective motivations, perceptions and positions, to facilitate agreement on price and then help resolve a transaction-threatening impasse over the costly revelation that, unbeknownst to everyone, the tile roof had been defectively installed (without being nailed down!) when the home was built, mandating its present replacement. Without Bree’s perseverance and communication and dispute resolution skills, this purchase and sale never would have happened.
