Alan May

Alan helped us purchase our first single family home in Evanston. We are eager young buyers and he spent more time talking us out of the WRONG house and encouraging us to wait for a better fit. And then we found it! So glad he talked us off a few ledges. . . :) While working with the mortgage company, the inspectors, the lawyers, I always CC'd Alan on emails because I trust his advice. Alan responds immediately to phone, email, and text. He patiently will walk me through all aspects of the home buying process, as many times as I need. Alan is also great company--laid back, friendly, and hospitable/attentive. My spouse said, "After our closing, it'll be sad not to hang out with Alan so much." I don't know who is going to answer our house questions AND listen to our ridiculous jokes all day. We'll definitely use him when its time to sell someday.

Alan is an amazing realtor! I can’t recommend him enough. We had encountered several obstacles when trying to sell my condo. Alan remained resilient, persistent and kept me calm throughout the entire process. He is very transparent, direct, easy to get in touch with and talk to, a great listener and extremely hard working. My condo was very nice but it was getting a little old in places. Alan persisted through a number of potential buyers who wanted to rent it out, until he found people who wanted to live in it. It sold pretty quickly in last year's crowded market, and we got a good price for it.

We selected Alan after interviewing other realtors and receiving one market analysis from another agent. In our interview with Alan he openly discussed different strategies for bringing the house to market, discussed a pricing range higher than what was suggested by other realtors, and gave us great advice on prepping the house for sale and reducing potential issues. He clearly understood the market and working with older homes. He had great photos taken of the property. When the house came on market we received a full price offer within 3 days. Unfortunately that offer fell through, but once it came back on the market we quickly received another offer and the sale closed without issues. Alan worked hard throughout the process. His advice was excellent. We had already moved to another state and Alan regularly walked through the house to check up on it At all times he was communicate and made us feel that we were his primary focus. He kept us calm when the first offer fell through with his humor and long experience in the market. He was right in every way. It was a pleasure working with him. We would highly recommend Alan May to anyone buying or selling a property.

Alan was great in helping us find a new house. We were coming in from out of state and there were 3 traits which stood out while working together: 1) responsive, always answered/responded right away to our calls and text msgs, 2) excellent partner helping us negotiate with seller/selling broker, explaining what was reasonable vs. stretch in terms of making offer/purchase price and strategic while negotiating contract details and when to ask for certain things, and finally, 3) experienced having worked in industry for many years, resulting in strong knowledge of area he covers and efficient in helping us get through closing process smoothly.

We chose Alan to be our agent for the process of searching for and purchasing our home in Evanston. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Alan's extensive knowledge of the area and market was invaluable. He truly took the time to understand what was important to us and used that to drive the properties he suggested. Despite a long search with many viewings, at no time was there a hint of pressure or influence to try and wrap up a sale. Throughout the sometimes frustrating process, Alan was always a true advocate and gentleman. We cannot recommend him strongly enough.
