What's around 5 Pearl St

Federal, Single Family - Brandon, VT

Step back in time with one of the town's original homes. Located within walking distance of downtown and some of Brandon's historical places. This center-hall federal style home is nestle among some of the areas most prominent structures. The construction of the main portion of this home began in 1815 and was completed in 1820. As the prominence of the owner, Josiah Parameter, grew an addition was added off the back, which made room for a formal kitchen space and study. Both of these spaces have since been renovated for the modern convenience, but had been done with the homes history in mind. Throughout the house movement is made easy from room to room as all the majority of the rooms are located off the grand multilevel open foyer. From the magnificently elegant formal staircase to the open second floor hallway you can envision its history. The craftsmanship and detail of the hardwood floors, handcrafted window trim, moldings and the brick work of the multiple fireplaces are not lost but it will take you time to notice all the detail. Other historic touches include the exposed interior brick wall and the original “3 holer” outhouse attached to the servant area. With all of what this home offers it does hold historic significance for the Town of Brandon, which was chartered in 1761. This house was one of the selected homes that the town nominated for the National Register of Historic Places and was entered and filed in December of 1976. This one is worth a look. Welcome home!
