Dave moved to Maine right out of college to pursue a career in structural engineering. After working in that capacity for over a decade, he pursued a career in real estate and has been helping clients buy and sell property all over the state for years. Dave has experience across the real estate spectrum, having worked everything from land development to waterfront, luxury homes. Dave’s technical background gives him a unique perspective and ability to help his clients understand all aspects of residential construction. His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Structural Design and Construction. While he no longer practices engineering, Dave still holds a professional engineering license and serves as an Engineering Duty Officer in the Navy Reserve, supporting the maintenance and construction of ships and submarines. Dave has lived in Topsham with his wife, Jonna, for 13 years. In their lives before children, they spent most weekends hiking and snowshoeing all over the state. Now with two young daughters, they explore the trails closer to home, where their appreciation for all that the midcoast and greater Portland area have to offer has grown immensely!

As a North Yarmouth home-owner and co-owner of over 150 rental units across Maine, I am intimately familiar with this market on a daily basis, working full time in real estate with a passion for service. As an agent, I am particularly knowledgeable about green design and renewable energy. I also co-own Katahdin Property Management and love working with investors, business owners and entrepreneurs looking to improve their communities. I grew up in North Yarmouth, graduating from Greely High School before attending Carleton College where I focused on Environment and Technology Studies and Latin American Studies. I took three architecture classes there and built a green roof- that got me hooked on real estate. Next, I spent 4 years in Bolivia, building a chain of outdoor gear and book stores before returning to Maine for my MBA. I spent 9 years in the non-profit space for Safe Passage as Outreach and Communications Coordinator and then for Bowdoin College as Assistant Director of Annual Giving. During this time I began intensely studying real estate and buying investment property. What began as a side-gig is now my lifelong passion. 150+ units later, I'm excited to meet you and help you achieve your goals, whether its helping you build equity in your first home, business, or your growing real estate portfolio.

Don Spann is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, grew up and went to school in McLean, VA, graduated with a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia. He moved to Maine in 1983, when he accepted a position in the Planning Department at Bath Iron Works, in Bath, Maine where he held numerous Senior Management positions including Director of Engineering Planning & Life Cycle Support and Director of Production Control prior to his retirement in January 2005. Don was recognized by both BIW and NAVSEA for his efforts in support of Navy Shipbuilding when he was awarded an Aegis Excellence Award during the Cruiser Program. He and his wife Sue Spann opened RE/MAX Riverside Real Estate Company in Topsham, Maine in 2002. Mr. Spann received his Real Estate License in 2003, subsequently joining RE/MAX full time as a licensed Commercial Realtor in 2005 when he formed their commercial real estate division. Don Spann has always been very active in the Community, and has been Chairman of both Topsham’s Planning Board and Topsham Development INC. (TDI) for several years now. Currently a member of the DAC, Design Advisory Committee for the new bridge appointed by Topsham's Board of Selectmen and represents Maine RE/MAX Broker Owners on the REMAX of New England Executive Council. Don has also provided several years of leadership and service on each of the following boards and committees, among others; Chairman, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee of the Southern MidCoast Chamber of Commerce. Following a long and successful career in nursing and health care administration, I embarked on a new career in real estate in 2005. As a licensed broker, I have found that the very same elements I enjoyed most in my healthcare career give me the most pleasure in my career in real estate. I approach each transaction from the perspective of the individual client’s needs. Knowing that the process requires a partnership between the client and the broker with each partner having their own responsibilities and tasks to complete. I believe that, when a broker is able to correctly assess the needs of their client and then tailor that approach to those individual needs, the end result can be not only mutually satisfactory, but also the beginning of a long lasting client/broker relationship. Past and returning real estate clients continue to refer friends and family to me. I am committed to bringing my best skills, knowledge, dedication and strong track record of professional integrity to each client relationship. I love working with buyers and sellers at all stages of the real estate continuum. I enjoy the energy & excitement that first time home buyers bring to the process as well as the practical experience of buyers and sellers who are looking to trade up or downsize their present properties. Over the years, I have formed strong relationships with local lenders, inspectors and contractors who work the same way that I do to help my clients through the real estate process. For fun, I love to travel, scuba dive, hike or snowshoe, read and spend time with my family and pets.
