Dave considers himself a semi-native of Vermont. "He wasn't born here, but he got here as quick as he could." Dave fondly remembers spending all the summers of his youth at the lakefront cottage that his grandfather built on North Ferrisburgh's Long Point. Running around barefoot, catching fish and frogs, building rafts, swimming and water skiing, and playing board games on the screened-in porch on rainy days. Dave's family has a long history along Lake Champlain in Charlotte and Ferrisburgh, including his great-great-great uncle being credited with preserving the beluga whale skeleton unearthed by railroad workers in Charlotte and his great-great-great-great grandfather, John Thorpe, being the first to build a wooden cottage on Thompson's Point in 1874. The area, now owned by the town of Charlotte, has since enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as the bucolic summer lakefront gathering place for families. After college, Dave decided to move north to Vermont where he worked as a registered representative for an investment company selling mutual funds. Dave spent the next several years working and skiing at several of Vermont's largest ski areas and had the distinction of joining the 'Century Club' meaning he skied Stowe Mountain 105 days in one year. He has successfully helped families with all their real estate needs since obtaining his real estate license in 1989 when he started with one of the first agencies in Chittenden County to offer buyer representation. Dave has represented the best interests of hundreds of buyers and sellers since then. In 2018, Dave joined the nation's largest lake-focused real estate brokerage and opened Lake Homes Realty in Vermont. Now, in addition to continuing to service his past clients and personal referrals, he now brings Lake Homes Realty's unique website and services to help lakefront buyers and sellers realize their real estate goals. Dave and his wife Nancy live on beautiful Mallett's Bay in Colchester where they enjoy the activities, the wildlife and the splendor of each season.
